Back to School Again

The Spring 2008 quarter began today and my one (and only) class for the quarter starts tomorrow morning.....at eight freakin AM in the morning. I hate early morning classes when they're scheduled this early, but hey - go where they say to go for the class.

The class I'm taking is ECE 107 Electromagnetism and I'm sure it'll be a 'fun' class....especially since most of the students in the lecture hall won't be awake until half-way through it.

I'm only taking one class this quarter as (put simply) some medical issues have made attending classes a major chore. Plus, it's the only class that I need that is offered that doesn't conflict with dialysis.

Flat Al

The corpse that's still twitching is now talking in absolutes:

Gore's Message To Climate Change Skeptics

(CBS) Self-avowed "P.R. agent for the planet" Al Gore says those who still doubt that global warming is caused by man - among them, Vice President Dick Cheney - are acting like the fringe groups who think the 1969 moon landing never really happened, or who once believed the world is flat.

The former vice president and former presidential candidate talks to 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl in an interview to be broadcast this Sunday, March 30, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Confronted by Stahl with the fact some prominent people, including the nation’s vice president, are not convinced that global warming is man-made, Gore responds: "You're talking about Dick Cheney. I think that those people are in such a tiny, tiny minority now with their point of view, they’re almost like the ones who still believe that the moon landing was staged in a movie lot in Arizona and those who believe the world is flat,” says Gore. "That demeans them a little bit, but it's not that far off," he tells Stahl.

Wasn't it some left-wing ding-a-ling that vowed something along the lines of addressing matters in either black or white is stupid and a red flag that a Republican was thinking? While I won't swear that it came from some ass-hatted clown who's left-of-center, it sticks in my memory like that because I remember shaking my head when I heard/read it.

Anyway - would you consider Al Gore serious if HE was found to be a fraud (like the faked 1969 moon landing) or for that matter...flat?

Clarke Dead

Arthur C. Clarke passed away.

I know that we all have to go sometime, but he always seemed to be an institution that was always there....kind of like a monolith.

Rest in Peace.

They'll Need Tissues

If these clowns actually follow-through with this stunt, they're gonna find out that military recruiters can actually do something to defend themselves.

While most of the time recruiters are friendly, pleasant, and out-going, if these ass-hats in Pittsburgh try to

...confine military recruiters until they no longer pose a danger to our friends and neighbors
they're be dealing with a plethora of bloody noses. The better bring lots of tissues.

Too bad it's on the other side of the country - it would be amusing to see peaceniks getting their teeth shoved down their throats.

(Hat tip to LGF for bringing some laughter into the day)

You Got Caught Dumbass

I didn't initially comment on this frackus because I know that there would be a lot more to it once the smoke & debris cleared the air.

Governor Caught Paying for Nookie, Realizes He F*cked Up

NEW YORK (CBS) - If Gov. Eliot Spitzer opts to roll the dice and not resign, state Republican leadership will force him to go all-in and call for his impeachment from office, according to a state Assemblyman, who admitted he asked the governor to step down.

Sources told CBS 2 HD shortly after it was reported that the Democratic governor was linked to a prostitution ring that he would likely hand in his resignation, which could happen within the next 36 hours.

They guy royally screwed-the-pooch on this (he might have paid extra for it though) and that is that. Eliot, you freakin moron: resign. Quit already. There isn't any sort of 'positive' spin that can be put on this and have you stay in office.

Does it effect me here in California? Not a bit, but it sure does brighten up that neon HYPOCRITE sign right next to the D for Democrat next to his name.

UPDATE: Okay, he finally did it. Now maybe the news won't be featuring his ugly mug every five minutes.

She Rocks

Last year for Father's Day, my wife & daughter gave me a card wishing me a 'Happy Father's Day!' and what was basically a coupon to purchase something that I had been wishing to get for quite a few years. That something was The Wall by Pink Floyd on compact disc.

Every time I had gone out to buy it, I'd either find it out of stock or way over $20 - so I'd wait. I knew that it would never be found in a 'bargain bin', but I knew that the price would have to come down eventually.

That was Father's Day 2007 - spring forward to March 2008.

The doorbell rings and I open the door to see a UPS guy standing there. He's got a package for the wife, so I sign for it and take it to her. She opens the package and inside along with some books for the kid, there is a copy of The Wall.

Boo-YAH! My wife & kid totally rock!

Now I just have to find my headphones because the wife isn't really fond of Pink Floyd.....
