No Gravestone

Cindy Sheehan Moves to Crawford, Locals Not Amused

Crawford- Anti-War Activist Cindy Sheehan is going to become a neighbor of President Bush, and local residents are not happy about the mess.

On the Gold Star Families For Peace website, Sheehan explained how Central Texas had grown on her. She now wants a permanent place where she and fellow protestors can go to demonstrate against President Bush.

Peace Supporter, Gerry Fonseca, says he purchased the 5-acre parcel, which cost more than $52,000. It was bought with the money frome her son, Casey's, life insurance policy.

Her son's grave still doesn't have a proper gravestone and yet SWWNBN splurge's for property in Crawford to protest.

Yup.....SWWNBN should be nominated for Mother of the Year.

Good Movie Review?

Michelle Malkin has a wrap-up of various people reviewing the advance screening of the up-coming Oliver Stone movie World Trade Center.

When I first heard of Stone making this movie, I cringed and thought Oh great.....another conspiracy theory movie for the silver screen.

Well, apparently that's not the case for one person:

Conservative blogger Jack Yoest also gives Stone two thumbs up after watching a special Washington screening last night:
What it was and what it was not.

It was not a conspiracy movie.
It did not bash Bush.
It was not sappy.
It was not about stupid, church-going nuts.
It did not mock marriage.
It did not blame America.
It did not support radical Islam.
It did not mock Marines.
It did not mock Jesus.
It did not mock cops.

It did not mock family, faith or freedom...

...This is a movie that you will see in a few weeks and you will be glad you did. After the viewing, there was no applause, little talking. At the end, the crowd audibly exhaled, as one.

And like Michelle says, I too will reserve judgment until I see the movie.

One thing that I hope is that all the people reviewing the movie are right and that it isn't another moonbat production mainly because I cannot see Nicholas Cage associating himself with something that would do disservice to the New York heroes that are portrayed in the movie.

I could be wrong - what was filmed might be perceived along a certain 'path' whereas it could be completely changed in the editing room in post-production.

We'll have to wait and see.

Israeli Payback

I've been watching the news over the last few days watching as Israel dishes out some payback onto Hezbollah guerillas in southern Lebanon.

Good for them.

As I was watching one of the reports on FoxNews last night, I remarked to my wife:

'You know.....if some Islamic psycho was able to detonate a nuclear weapon in Israel and killed a few million Jews.....there would be Arab nations and American peaceniks bitchin and moaning about all of the smoke coming from the nuclear firestorm and the United Nations would be trying to issue a condemnation on Israel for all the pollution caused by the bomb.'

My wife agreed.

I'm serious as a heart attack: no matter what Israel does, they are to blame for all the crap happening......as far as the Arab world and most American newspapers are concerned.

Tear it up Israel!

Let There Be Light

(By way of PDA)
I'm trying something new to deal with the neuropathy that comes from dialysis - Infrared Therapy.

I'm laying here on a bench with IR lights strapped to my feet. The 'treatment' is 30 minutes long and I'm told that most patients don't see any change(s) until nine or ten treatments.

I was initially leary about trying this to treat the neuropathy, but I'm guessing that as far as the neurologist that I'm seeing is concerned, I'll have to learn to 'crawl' before I can walk.....meaning that I'll have to undergoe these treatments before she realizes that this isn't a 'normal' problem; initially, she had me return to taking a specific medication that I was taking before my stroke.....one that did nothing. I took the meds for several weeks before she said 'Hmmm....it doesn't seemto be doing anything.'

As my daughter would say: 'Doi!!' And the goofy part of this is that this IR thetapy is supposed to improve blood circulation and the neuropathy problem is the nerves in my feet arebasically 'spazzing out'.

Like I said before: crawl before walking....

And the added bonus to this? I get to listen to old women bitch about having knots in their backs as I lay here...

Out of Curiousity...

Does anyone know of a 'decent' way to make money....under the table?

And I know of the 'obvious' ones: gun running, illegal alien smuggling, drug dealer, etc.

Just curious......for research purposes.

Temporary Reprieve

I initially missed this when it was announced:

Reprieve for cross extended

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy extended his temporary stay protecting the Mount Soledad cross yesterday until state and federal courts can hear appeals this fall by the city of San Diego to preserve the landmark.

In blocking a federal judge's order that the city remove the cross by Aug. 1 or face a $5,000 daily fine, Kennedy indicated that the full court would review the case if it were to come before the court.

Kennedy said the court, which refused three years ago to get involved in the dispute, may consider it because of two new factors favorable to cross proponents.

He cited legislation to designate the city-owned land a national veterans memorial and a ballot initiative in which San Diegans overwhelmingly voted to transfer the land to the federal government.

Kennedy's move is a big boost for cross supporters and the city in their efforts to preserve the La Jolla landmark, which is part of a veterans memorial.

The cross was ordered removed in 1991 by U.S. District Court Judge Gordon Thompson Jr. in San Diego federal court. Thompson said the cross was a religious symbol whose presence violated the state Constitution's ban on a government showing a preference for religion.

Mayor Jerry Sanders welcomed Kennedy's opinion at a news conference, recalling his oft-stated promise to do everything possible to retain the cross.

“Today is validation that this was the right course of action,” he said.

It's a temporary reprieve, but it's a reprieve none the less.

What I find most interesting considering that it was a U.S. Supreme Court Justice that noted it was that the Court noted that the ballot initiative that was passed overwhelmingly in favor of saving the cross and leaving it where it is - passed by the voters of San Diego.

To me, this is noteable because it would seem that someone finally - finally - took notice of the people's choice in the matter.

Will it stay? I don't know, but the arguments for keeping it will hopefully be heard in the Supreme Court.

We'll all have to wait and see.

(Thanks to Citizen Smash for the clue alert.)

SWWNBN Loves Hugo

I can' t find the story, but I heard this morning (or rather read on the net) that SWWNBN said she'd rather live under Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

Michelle Malkin scouted out some one-way tickets on Expedia for her and if I had any money, I'd seriously consider kicking down some $$$ to help SWWNBN get on her merry way!!

I really wish a ticket could be procurred for her......let her see what an 'evil' empire America really is......I've always said that if anyone seriously thinks that we're a repressive nation that they should pick their favorite Third-World Sh*t Hole and live there for a few months.

Pet Rock Style

This is beyond stupid:

US stars align in anti-Iraq war hunger strike

Star Hollywood actor-activists including Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon and anti-war campaigners led by bereaved mother Cindy Sheehan plan to launch a hunger strike, demanding the immediate return of US troops from Iraq.

As Americans get set to fire up barbeques in patriotic celebration of US Independence Day on July 4, anti-war protestors planned to [savor] a last meal outside the White House, before embarking on a 'Troops Home Fast' at midnight.

"We've marched, held vigils, lobbied Congress, camped out at Bush's ranch, we've even gone to jail, now it's time to do more," said Sheehan, who emerged as an anti-war icon after losing her 24-year-old son Casey in Iraq.

The hunger strike was the latest bid by the US anti-war movement to grab hold of American public opinion, after numerous marches, vigils and political campaigns.

But what is just......typical of Hollywood is this:
Other supporters, including Penn, Sarandon, novelist Alice Walker and actor Danny Glover will join a 'rolling" fast, a relay in which 2,700 activists pledge to refuse food for at least 24 hours, and then hand over to a comrade.
Now that is dedication to a cause......a rolling hunger strike......cause it's understandable how a hunger strike can interfere with having a fabulous dinner at some swank restaurant where you haver to be 'seen'.

I think that all of these Hollywood activists attention-seekers have just remanded themselves to the 'Pet Rock' category of silliness.

Our Sacred Honor

Declaration of Independence
(Courtesy of the National Archives)

TWO hundred and thrity years ago today, on a hot afternoon in Philadelphia, 56 men signed the Declaration of Independence and severed all ties with the King of England.

Under the penalty of death, they wrote:

...we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
For those men.....those Founding Fathers, it was all or nothing - they would no longer sit by and take the abuse that they and their fellow colonists had endured for the last 30 years. They had tried to work within the 'system' - that being the Parliament in London - until they could no longer stand it.

They took it and took it and took it some more and with a great deal of debate, discussion, arguing, and finally with a great deal of resolve, they signed this document and changed the face of the (then) modern world. Some would argue that it was for the worse, but most would solemnly vow that it was for the better and began the process.....the journey of what no one can argue has become the most sucessful nation state on this planet.

Two hundred and thirty years is a long time and the United States has changed since that time. The people that comprise the American culture have also changed but deep down most Americans will say that this document was and still is the defining declaration that a people that are oppressed in such a manner will no longer stand around and simply take it. These men were saying to the King of England and to the Parliament:

No more. Not while we still draw breath in our lungs and we can stand to defy your tyranny....no more. NO MORE!!

Today, go out and celebrate your independence with your family, your friends....your fellow Americans.

Just now found out that Acidman aka Rob over at Gut Rumbles passed away.

I can't say I read a lot of his stuff - it was a little difficult to follow at times - but I do know that he could 'zing' out insults like it was an art form.

Rest in Peace Rob.
