My grandma was on dialysis for 23 years. My grandpa put her on the machine in their own home. It always amazed me when she'd get up and cook dinner right after treatment.
It's that time again - April 2nd is this Sunday and it's also the first Sunday of the month.....San Diego Protest Warrior will be hosing another Operation Thank You at Balboa Park once again.
The operation will commence starting at 11:30 am at the corner of President's Way and Park Blvd.
Join us in staking out the corners of the intersection to wave American flags and signs thanking the United States military for protecting our freedoms - especially in stark contrast to what the ladies (and spooky guys) of CodePink attempt to do in that general area.

Bring a flag, your kids, a picnic, a big smile and a grateful heart...trust me, this event will put a spring in your step for days!
I'll be posting an after-action report on yesterday's event, along with some photos as soon as I can find my &%*^$ cable to download the ^(&(^ photos from the camera.
SIDE NOTE: We'll be indulging in.....chili dawgs tonight.
Mmmmmmmmmm.....chili dogs. [\Homer Simpson]
UPDATE: Okay, okay - this time I'm really going to post photos tomorrow.
I finally found the cable and after getting some work done tomorrow morning (I'm helping my wife with some small 'chores' that she needs done for her business) I'll be putting some up with appropriate captioning.

Hey Mikey!
I'm so glad to hear that you pulled through and can eat chili dogs now. Even if you are a wingnut I love you anyway.
Got a question for some of you - especially Jim: would my switching to peritoneal dialysis be a better choice than sticking with hemodialysis?
I'm seriously considering switching because of a condition known as neuropathy that is getting worse with each dialysis treatment - so bad that there are times when I purposefully request to be taken off the HD machine before I'm supposed to; most dialysis days I will end up going home and just climbing into bed because my feet are hurting so much.
So....any one got any thoughts on this? My understanding is that with PD the treatments are much easier on the body but are not as....thorough.
(Sorry to whine about this......I'm starting to really dread going to treatments....)

If your Dr. says you're a good candidate for it, GO FOR IT!
I hated Hemo Dialysis!
If you can get over the "EW Factor" of having a chunk of plastic hanging out your abdomen, you'll be pretty happy with it. A lot more control over your treatments, better diet, better schedule, more freedom overall! I had Fresenious as my supplier for all my supplies, and they had a vacation plan, to where they'd ship a machine out, and all the supplies to just about any location! All I had to do was give them 2 weeks notice, and an address to ship to...
Questions to ask your Nephrologist:
What happens if my PD stops being effective? (this was my problem after about 3yrs...)
There's a lot of training to get used to as well...

After emerging from the hospital three weeks ago after missing the bullet of a stroke, I've now been broadsided by a cold.....a cold that was facilitated by my daughter bringing it home from the 'Disease Transfer Center' aka school.
Wonderful.
On a lighter note, I have located the cable to download photos from this past weekend's Operation Proud Banner; I just have to get my head clear enough to put the after-action report together with the appropriate photos.
With that in mind, I'm going to lay down and take a nap.

It's amazing you didn't get some kind of bug as long as you were in the hosp. (or did you; can't remember now). Hospitals are notorious for passing around viruses and bacterials.
I've seen this over the last few days and have been debating as to whether I should comment on Richard's superb lack of finesse; this appears to be another 'Butt Monkey Launch':
According to actor and comedian Richard Belzer, American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan are too uneducated to be expressing support for the U.S. military mission since they're just "19 and 20-year-old kids who couldn't get a job" and "they don't read twenty newspapers a day."
Belzer, who's best known as Detective John Munch on NBC's "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit," is a frequent guest on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher." On one previous appearance, he threatened to walk off the set when told columnist Ann Coulter was also appearing, calling her a "fascist party doll." On Friday night's live broadcast, Belzer attacked claims by fellow guest Florida Congresswoman Ileanna Ros-Lehtinen's that U.S. soldiers continue to express support for the war.
In the lively exchange, captured by the website NewsBusters, Belzer dismisses Ros-Lehtinen accounts of meeting with troops in Iraq and their credibility as "bull----."
As I mention in my little sidebar on the right-hand side called 'About Me', I point out that getting offended here in the U.S. isn't a right that's guarenteed under the Bill of Rights and this is where my own words come back to haunt me: I can't really get bent out of shape because of putz from Hollywood comes across like he's a genius as compared to us dumb 19 or 20 year olds that couldn't get a job and joined the military instead.
Richard, you're a decent actor and a comic, but you might want to walk a mile or two in ourshoes/boots before you start bloviating. You're just another example of why people get tired of the Hollywood nimrods that seem to think that because you're able to portray a character on the small or big screen that it gives you gravitas to make such broad statements about the caliber of people in the American military. I enlisted 20 years ago not because I didn't have any options in front of me - I wanted to serve my country.

I like all of the Law & Order series. Your post harkens back to a bok title I heard of, called "Shut Up & Sing!", by Laura Ingram.
I had to comment, partly because you used "bloviating" and bloviate.net is my site. ;) Partly because you are 100% right. I'd say more if it were actually possible.
My brother in law joined the marines at 17 because they wouldn't take him earlier and that's what he wanted to do. The guy is pretty smart, I mean he graduated highschool at 14...
My dad joined the airforce after having numerous good jobs, because he wanted to serve his country, not to mention that the air force offers some of the best opportunities to get into a technical field around.
I have yet to meet the stereotypical "dumb grunt" military man.
Hell, one of my good friends up here is a graphic artist, holds one or two bachelors degrees, but he is still in the service because he loves his country, and he tells me that he has a blast doing the things that they do.
I learned long ago that "dumb 19 & 20 year olds" were way smarter than those dumbasses in hollywood.
Currently obsessing over 'That Was Yesterday' and it's bass line....and not because I'm lamenting a lost love - it's just a....moving song IMHO.
One of the things that I've missed doing lately is playing my bass and it's songs like this one that get me motivated to return to one of my former passions of life.
I'm sure there are musicians out there - and I'm proud to say that I'm one - that can understand my perspective on this....

My wife & friends are putting together a party - part 'welcome back Mikey'...part 'thank you to those that helped out' party.
If you're one of those people that helped out my family while I was doing recon in la-la land, send me an e-mail at mikey-AT-madmikey-DOT-mu-DOT-nu with the following info:
Name(s) of those attending.
Address where the invitation can be sent via snail mail.
Phone number to confirm.
Put PARTY in the Subject line so that I'm not an idiot and accidentally delete it.
NOTE: The information sent to us will remain PRIVATE.
The party will be held here in San Diego (obviously), specifically in the Scripps Ranch area; some of our friends are holding the party at their community rec room. There will be a pool and a BBQ although I don't know if it will be warm enough to swim....but that's a judgement call that you'd have to make.
The date of the party will be on Saturday, April 1st and will be from approximately 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
If you'd like to attend, please let us know so that we know how many will be showing up lest we plan badly.
Once again, thank you to all that assisted my family during this emergency.
by the way, I sent something to the address that was posted while you were out and it was returned "undeliverable". can you send me an address where I can send it? Thanks!
SARASOTA, Fla. -- The 39-year-old man convicted of abducting, raping and killing 11-year-old Carlie Brucia was sentenced Wednesday to death by lethal injection.
"The scales of life and death tip unquestionably toward death," said Circuit Judge Andrew Owens.
Before announcing Joseph Smith's death punishment on the charge of first-degree murder, the judge said Smith faces life in prison without the possibility of parole for the assault and kidnapping of his victim.
Owens then agreed with the jury's earlier 10-to-2 recommendation that be executed. Smith showed no emotion as Owens read either sentence.
"Carlie endured unspeakable trauma, which began at the time of her kidnapping," the judge said before announcing the sentence. "The image of the defendant taking her arm and leading her away no doubt will forever be etched in our minds."
Actually, he deserves to be raped repeatedly by many angry gorillas....
Anyone in San Diego or familiar with the area know of a repair shop that has a good/great reputation for working on bass guitars?
The one place that I was aiming for won't return my phone calls.......they're about an angstrom from being on my 'list'. And I'm talking about a list that's maintained by an Irishman that can become quite put out when not treated nice-like.....
UPDATE: Finally got in touch with the shop owner and got a price quote for the necessary work....
...the suck part is that it'll have to wait.
Oh well - at least I know that the shop is still in business.
My bass isn't some $4000 special/custom job - it's just a Japanese made Fender Precison Bass and it's my first and only bass. I want it treated like it was a member of my family - it's that important to me.
Just got the response, but I might not have to trouble him after all - the bass shop that I was trying to get in touch with contacted me yesterday - the cost for what I need done is about what I predicted.
Now I just need to clear it with the wife and I'll be chugging along nicely.

Five suspected illegal aliens are in custody after the pickup truck they were in smashed into a car yesterday in suburban West Palm Beach, Fla., killing a popular school principal.
Margaret "Peggy" Campbell, 62, principal at Western Pines Community Middle School, suffered fatal injuries when her four-door Subaru collided with a Dodge Ram.
While the accident is still under investigation, police say preliminary indications suggest the driver of the pickup truck was at fault, for running a red light and striking Campbell's car, which was making a U-turn.
The pickup's driver, 30-year-old Cesar Majia, and his four passengers were taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol and charged with illegal entry into the country.
Paul Miller, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office, said Majia was in possession of a Mexican driver's license, though the nations of origin for all the male passengers were not immediately known.
This type of crap has got to be stopped.....I'm thinking that a little Hollywood should be applicable here....something like this. Let the police and Border Patrol carry the necessary tools to not allow innocent people to be killed because of high-speed chases....just cut the fleeing vehicle into multiple pieces.
And something else that this has an impact on - this principal that was popular with her school kids.....they suffer too. How do you justify a needless death such as hers to children without telling them the blatant truth?
Something to think about the next time a border security issue comes up in a referendum vote...
Deportation to Mexico is possible, if not likely, for five illegal aliens involved in a fatal traffic crash this week that claimed the life of a popular school principal in South Florida.
But authorities say the driver of the pickup truck that purportedly ran a red light and slammed into Margaret "Peggy" Campbell's car may have to first serve prison time in the U.S. if convicted in connection with the accident.
If I hadn't read it for myself, I'd have thought this was a joke.

Geez, I go away for a week and he's back to posting! Very cool.
I agree with the "street sweeper" image. I just can't understand how this administration can be so tone deaf on this issue. I heard today that they're now considering a "virtual" fence for the border. Great, it will stop the virtual illegals. We need a real fence for the real illegals.
WASHINGTON -- Senators writing an immigration reform bill are debating whether an actual or "virtual" fence should be built along parts of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Republicans are split on a proposal for a "virtual" fence, using cameras and other technology to monitor illegal traffic. Some want more real fences or walls for long stretches of the line.
Last year, the House passed a measure calling for hundreds of miles of fencing at heavily trafficked areas on the southwestern border and study of a possible fence along the Canadian border.
While discussion about a wall or fence continues, a Senate committee Thursday voted to increase the number of Border Patrol agents, but how many they agreed to add was uncertain.
Senators left a Judiciary Committee hearing with different totals on new agents they want hired. Their figures ranged from 2,000 and 2,400 a year to 10,800 over five years and 12,000 in just two years.

So, does the virtual fence mean they're gonna hand out shock collars to all illegals, to keep them in their yard? Isn't that how it works with most virtual fences?
Here's something I wrote a year ago that had me howling at describing the results of a quiz in school:
Anyway....I think I did decently on it, but considering the vast amount of puzzled looks on the rest of the students in the lecture hall I take a little comfort in knowing that the bell curve for this quiz was nuked....twice.
I asked one guy coming out of the lecture hall as I was if he 'kicked ass or got his ass kicked'. He replied: I got raped.
Yup - the bell curve was nuked and then sprayed with machine-gun fire afterwards for good measure.....
Big NOTE: I am in no way touting my writing skills as being worthy of a Pulitzer - just howlling/giggling my ass off at my ability to describe how I felt after a hard quiz.
Gov. Janet Napolitano on Wednesday ordered more National Guardsmen posted at the Mexican border to help stop illegal immigrants and curb related crimes.
National Guard troops have worked at the border since 1988, but Napolitano signed an order authorizing commanders to station an unspecified number of additional soldiers there to help federal agents.
Once the funding is approved, the troops will monitor crossing points, assist with cargo inspection and operate surveillance cameras, according to the order.
"They are not there to militarize the border," the governor said. "We are not at war with Mexico."
About 170 National Guardsmen are already posted at the nation's busiest illegal entry point, where they assist with communications, fence construction and anti-drug efforts.
Napolitano did not say how many additional troops would be stationed at the border and referred questions to the National Guard, which did not immediately return a call
When I initially read the headline, I thought Cool!! M-1 Abrhams tanks along the border!!
Then I read the story and saw that it was just beefing up the crossing points, etc.
Still think they should dig a trench and fill it with gasoline.....
During my time in the ICU while in a coma, the medicals staff had a plethora of machines wired to me......

Congratulations on being alive and still having a mind. Both of us lucked out on that, Corey Plunket didn't.
My stroke was just 20 years ago. I still notice aftereffects. I used to be right handed, now I'm almost ambidexterous. I used to laugh at certain things, now when I think about them deep emotion wells up and I find myself crying.
Worse, I have memory brainfarts. Unless I write something down, speak it, and force myself to remember it, the data goes vague. And sometimes I go blank on a word and have to work my way around it.
I presume you already have the NERF balls. My right hand was partially frozen and I had to start off jerking my whole right side for hours a day in the hospital bed before I was able to get first, control of the hand, then the fingers. Eventually I got a computer typing tutor program and got control of my fingers (I used to type with four fingers before the stroke, now I can do all ten.)
My English handwriting was passable, now it is utterly wretched. My Russian handwriting, learned as an adult and therefore not so centrally localized in my brain (distributed, like the Internet!) survived and I find it easier to use semi-cyrillic characters when I handwrite.
On the day of the stroke and the day after my eyesight suffered. I had taken some Russian SF fanzines (then newly legal) with me to the hospital and I could not disginguish between certain letters. That lasted two or three days.
It only took me a day to re-master chop sticks, but unless I am actually thinking about holding something in my right hand I sometimes go slack and drop it. That doesn't happen with chopsticks and food.
I had a fairly quick recovery -- I was back at work in a month -- but I still have problems. One's spincter muscles are controlled by both sides of the brain and one side doesn't work all that well. If your doctor gives you a diuretic for blood pressure control, watch out!
I suspect you don't need this advice, but when people try to help you, stare at them and thank them and tell them to go away. The frustration and inconvenience work as superb motivations, and if you find doing something you used to do difficult now, you're going to have to exercise your body to be able to do it.
And good luck and congratulations on beating the Grim Reaper again.
I'm very lucky as compared to most stroke victims - I missed the bullet(s) and so far (knock on wood) haven't suffered any sort of permenant damage except for being as weak as a two-day old kitten; the weakness is from being in the coma for several weeks and then being basically confined to my hospital bed by the mobility Nazis who were afraid that I would take a head-dive into floor.
I have noticed that my signature is a little 'wobbly'. I'm not fluent in it, but I'm remembering alot of my basic Spanish. My highschool German is a lost cause for the moment.
I was having short-term memory problems before the stroke - problem is still there and I'm learning to work around it myself.
While I haven't really 'challenged' myself mentally (I was able to do calculus in my head, much to the amazment of my friends), but what I'm kind of worried about is my ability to play my bass guitar. I'm working on getting it tweaked/tuned up soon and will see if I can still remember some of the riffs that came natually. More on that when it happens/doesn't happen.
Nerf ball? No such animals yet.
...stare at them and thank them and tell them to go away.
LMAO!!! Excellent advice!!!
Thanks for the advice and encouragement - it really helps!
A large nerf ball is very useful as hand exericse. I still use it every so often. Basically drum your fingers into the nerf ball one after the other and keep it up for a while. The nerf fights back; I used to alternate that and Typing Tutor. I suspect the guitar fingering exericses will do that for you.
The weakness is standard for a week or three in bed. Time yourself to see how long you can sit up at your computer, and try longer and longer each day. Keep out of bed if you can, but if you're exhausted just sleep.
WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Monday that colleges that accept federal money must allow military recruiters on campus, despite university objections to the Pentagon's "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays..
Justices rejected a free-speech challenge from law school professors who claimed they should not be forced to associate with military recruiters or promote their campus appearances.
Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the decision, which was unanimous.
Law schools had become the latest battleground over the "don't ask, don't tell" policy allowing gay men and women to serve in the military only if they keep their sexual orientation to themselves.
Many universities forbid the participation of recruiters from public agencies and private companies that have discriminatory policies.
Roberts, writing his third decision since joining the court, said there are other less drastic options to protest the policy.
"A military recruiter's mere presence on campus does not violate a law school's right to associate, regardless of how repugnant the law school considers the recruiter's message," he wrote.

It's always stymied me as to why these colleges/universities are soooooo fearful of students being exposed to information about military service.....when they have no problem with taking money from the government and still talking smack about the military.
Now you sanctimonious hypocrites have to play nice or drum up funding from other sources....and you'll note that this wasn't a 'split' decision - it was unanimous.....even the liberal members of the court recognize just how stupid your argument was.
I was resting in bed last night while my wife was going through the day's snail mail.
One piece of mail was junk mail - an offer from American Express. She pulled the 'sample' credit card away from the poster card in the envelope and proceeded to remove the flexible glue that held the 'card' to the poster card.
She was enjoying playing with it until I told her what that adhesive was called by most technicians: Gorilla snot.
She groaned and tossed it in the trash saying that the fun had been stripped knowing that it was called 'Gorilla Snot'....same material, different name - ooggged out factor: 9.4.....

Just a quick note to say that I've arrived home from the hospital on Monday afternoon and have been 'recoverying' since then. Lots of sleep, lots of attempting to navigate my house unlike before the stroke, and having to somewhat re-learn some of the more basic skills of life - the hard way.
I havne't had a chance to read all of the blog entries on my blog that were made by Da Goddess or Smash or Pixy but from what Goddess and Smash told me in the hospital, there has been a LOT of people sending good thoughts my way and I wanted to say that I appreciate that more than you'll ever know or I'll ever be able to convey in words.
Thank You!!
DG already posted a quick synopsis of what happened, which is a good thing since I had absolutely NO idea what was happening during all of this; I'm not really sure as to exactly when I was told that I had suffered a stroke (obviously it would be after I had been awoken from the induced coma)....the entire ordeal seems like a bad collection of dreams - you know, like when you've got the flu and you keep having weird dreams while you sleep that all are connected by a weird 'theme', except that I didn't know what was going on.
The 'situation' was so bad that as DG wrote a whilte back, I was convinced that there were ducks standing behind my wife on day in the ICU room....I was convinced that one of the physical therapists helping me was on 'loaner duty' from the FBI.....I was convinced that the ICU room I was in was really one of the small houses in Chula VIsta that I initially lived in when I seperated from the Navy back in the late-90's.
Pretty deranged stuff - serious enough that they had to keep me grounded in reality, but with enough goofiness that there was a definite chuckle somewhere in there.
These 'facts' were so serious to me (in the state of mind I was in) that the nurses would always be asking those cognitive questions all the time:
Mike, do you know where you are?
Mike, who won the last Super Bowl?
Mike, who's president of the United States?
After a while, the questions got annoying so I started making up answers to mess with their heads, have a little fun, and to work on honing my inner smart-ass with responses such as:
Mike, do you know what state we're in?
The State of Anarchy.
Mike, what year is it?
3974 and you damn dirty apes had better get your dirty paws off me me!!
Mike, what is the next holiday?
Ground Hogs Day of course.
As I was sittng here trying to remember some of my more.....smart-ass type responses, my wife told me of my first attempt at being a smart-ass: when asked where I was, I responded: Japan, of course. The nurses started to make a note in the chart as to my (obvious) inaccurate response and I blurted out after about three seconds I'm joking!!....apparently, their note accustomed to my style of humor.
They're obviously inferior intellectually.....
I appear to have escaped any sort of permenant damage, i.e., no paralysis, no apparent dain bramage (other than really wanting to figure out the bassline to Foreigner's That Was Yesterday.) That's why I'm getting my Fender P-Bass repaired ASAP - playing bass through my amp as revenge upon my neigbors for their noisy kid and the concrete shoes that insists on running around upstairs at close to midnight.
Muhahahhhhhahahahaaaahahahaha!!!
(Money permitting)
This is one of those steps that I'm taking to reclaim my life - doing some of the things that I used to do before I decided that there more 'important' things in life.
No more.
It's now my mission to not only teach my daughter right from wrong, but to teach her some of the more 'classic' music from the late 70's/early-80's (Kiss, Rush, Supertramp, etc) lest she be brainwashed by todays' *cough* music (insert gag reflex here).
It's Old School or no school. Grrrrr.
One of my friends - we'll call him Bob - is coming out here this summer from Ohio and suggested that we put together another 'reunion tour' of our garage band Asylum Bound; he also suggested that we call it the 'I Need Another Reunion Tour Like I Need Anouther Hole In My Head' Tour. It's a bit long.....we'll work on refining it. All we really need to do is find a place to jam that will also rent him a drum kit. I'll have to dig my amp out of storage (the one that I bought in Saudi Arabia back in 1992....the one that runs off 220VAC) and I'll have to convince our guitarist to start honing his chops or die trying.
That's about it for the moment - it's taken me over two days to compose this post (as opposed to 38 minutes pre-stroke) and I'll have to indulge in my typical activity since coming home - sleep.
Thank you to everyone that sent me good thoughts & prayers - I'm still alive & kicking, so they must have worked. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to everyone for their support - especially to those that helped my wife & daughter while this happened.

So awesome to have you back in the land of the smart-asses! You had us pretty freaked out for a while-- in the future, you really don't need to go to such extremes for attention.
I initially had it pegged for February 14th, but... this'll do fine.
Actually, your timing is PERFECT.

Operation Thank You Continues
It's that time again - April 2nd is this Sunday and it's also the first Sunday of the month.....San Diego Protest Warrior will be hosing another Operation Thank You at Balboa Park once again.
The operation will commence starting at 11:30 am at the corner of President's Way and Park Blvd.
Join us in staking out the corners of the intersection to wave American flags and signs thanking the United States military for protecting our freedoms - especially in stark contrast to what the ladies (and spooky guys) of CodePink attempt to do in that general area.
We all look forward to seeing you there!!

Change of Pace?

How long have you been on Hemo?
|| Posted by Tetzman, March 29, 2006 01:09 PM ||How long have you been on Hemo?
Since November 2004.
The HD treatments seem a lot more....'brutal' since I got out of the hospital three weeks ago....
|| Posted by Mad Mikey, March 29, 2006 01:16 PM ||I can imagine! You've been through a lot in the last couple of months! give yourself a little time to heal.

Chops Tool
Just got something to help me in regaining my 'chops' on my bass: a Gripmaster
With the help of a friend of mine, I picked up one with a 'medium' tension at the Guitar Center here in San Diego.
Not only is it helpful in getting back into playing bass, it's also useful for overall thearpy in getting strength back into my hands.

Disease Transfer Centers
After emerging from the hospital three weeks ago after missing the bullet of a stroke, I've now been broadsided by a cold.....a cold that was facilitated by my daughter bringing it home from the 'Disease Transfer Center' aka school.
Wonderful.
On a lighter note, I have located the cable to download photos from this past weekend's Operation Proud Banner; I just have to get my head clear enough to put the after-action report together with the appropriate photos.
With that in mind, I'm going to lay down and take a nap.

Richard 'Butt Monkey' Belzer Bloviates
I've seen this over the last few days and have been debating as to whether I should comment on Richard's superb lack of finesse; this appears to be another 'Butt Monkey Launch':
As I mention in my little sidebar on the right-hand side called 'About Me', I point out that getting offended here in the U.S. isn't a right that's guarenteed under the Bill of Rights and this is where my own words come back to haunt me: I can't really get bent out of shape because of putz from Hollywood comes across like he's a genius as compared to us dumb 19 or 20 year olds that couldn't get a job and joined the military instead.Richard, you're a decent actor and a comic, but you might want to walk a mile or two in ourshoes/boots before you start bloviating.
In other words Dick: Step the F*ck Off!

I like all of the Law & Order series. Your post harkens back to a bok title I heard of, called "Shut Up & Sing!", by Laura Ingram.
Belz, STFU and ACT!
|| Posted by Tetzman, March 21, 2006 12:40 PM ||I had to comment, partly because you used "bloviating" and bloviate.net is my site. ;) Partly because you are 100% right.

Current Earworm
Currently obsessing over 'That Was Yesterday' and it's bass line....and not because I'm lamenting a lost love - it's just a....moving song IMHO.
One of the things that I've missed doing lately is playing my bass and it's songs like this one that get me motivated to return to one of my former passions of life.
I'm sure there are musicians out there - and I'm proud to say that I'm one - that can understand my perspective on this....
Anyone familiar with the bass in this song?

Party Alert!
Party Alert!
- Name(s) of those attending.
- Address where the invitation can be sent via snail mail.
- Phone number to confirm.
Put PARTY in the Subject line so that I'm not an idiot and accidentally delete it.NOTE: The information sent to us will remain PRIVATE.

The one place that I was aiming for won't return my phone calls.......they're about an angstrom from being on my 'list'. And I'm talking about a list that's maintained by an Irishman that can become quite put out when not treated nice-like.....

'Oh Those Poor Illegals!!'
And something else that this has an impact on - this principal that was popular with her school kids.....they suffer too. How do you justify a needless death such as hers to children without telling them the blatant truth?
Something to think about the next time a border security issue comes up in a referendum vote...

Dumbasses.
Good to have you back posting.

So, does the virtual fence mean they're gonna hand out shock collars to all illegals, to keep them in their yard? Isn't that how it works with most virtual fences?

I'm Back (Part II)
During my time in the ICU while in a coma, the medicals staff had a plethora of machines wired to me......
.....so many, that even my little girl got in on the humor flowing around to keep everyone's spirits up. She was reported to have quoted some Monty Python:
"Oh look, it's the machine that goes PING!"
A smart-ass in training if I ever heard that before.....makes me swell with pride!

Work-In-Progress
Going to attempt to make an 'About Mad Mikey' page to explain some of the finer nuances of myself - mainly my monicker so as to make sure that everyone knows that I don't have some 'anger management issues'.
So if you get some screwed up page, it's probably cause I'm in my 'room full of chimps and a typewriter' mindset.

So if the writing is insightful and coherent, it's the chimps.
|| Posted by Alan Kellogg, March 7, 2006 08:37 AM ||Congratulations on being alive and still having a mind.
|| Posted by John H. Costello, March 7, 2006 07:45 PM ||And good luck and congratulations on beating the Grim Reaper again.
John
|| Posted by Mad Mikey, March 8, 2006 08:37 AM ||
|| Posted by John Costello, March 8, 2006 08:17 PM ||A large nerf ball is very useful as hand exericse.

Observations of Life, Part I
I was resting in bed last night while my wife was going through the day's snail mail.

I'm Back (Part I)
Just a quick note to say that I've arrived home from the hospital on Monday afternoon and have been 'recoverying' since then.
- Mike, do you know where you are?
- Mike, who won the last Super Bowl?
- Mike, who's president of the United States?
After a while, the questions got annoying so I started making up answers to mess with their heads, have a little fun, and to work on honing my inner smart-ass with responses such as:Mike, do you know what state we're in?
- Mike, what year is it?
- Mike, what is the next holiday?
As I was sittng here trying to remember some of my more.....smart-ass type responses, my wife told me of my first attempt at being a smart-ass: when asked where I was, I responded: Japan, of course. The nurses started to make a note in the chart as to my (obvious) inaccurate response and I blurted out after about three seconds I'm joking!!....apparently, their note accustomed to my style of humor. The State of Anarchy.
3974 and you damn dirty apes had better get your dirty paws off me me!!
Ground Hogs Day of course.

The words written here are his opinions and his observations on the stupid things in life. If you do not like them or do not agree with them: tough squishies. In America, you're entitled to Freedom of Speech not Freedom to Not Be Offended.
Help Mikey by not being part of the problem and instead, be part of the solution so that he doesn't have to comment on your sorry actions.
