Lovely....just lovely.
Vandals Burn Dozens of American Flags Decorating Veterans' Graves, Replace With SwastikasAnd should they find the people that did this, they'll try to assert their 'First Amendment' rights saying it's a 'form of speech'.ORCAS ISLAND, Wash. — Vandals burned dozens of small American flags that decorated veterans' graves for Memorial Day and replaced many of them with hand-drawn swastikas, authorities said Monday.
Forty-six flag standards were found empty and another 33 flags were in charred tatters Sunday in the cemetery, authorities said. Swastikas drawn on paper appeared where 14 of the flags had been.
Members of the American Legion on this island off Washington's northwest coast replaced the burned flags with new ones Sunday afternoon.
The vandals struck again on Memorial Day after a guard left at dawn, the San Juan County sheriff's office said. This time, the vandals left 33 of the hand-drawn swastikas.
"This is not an act of free speech. This is a crime," Sheriff Bill Cumming said in a statement released Monday afternoon.
Right.

Irrational Fears
I was skimming over some blogs this evening and I found this photo over at LGF. And it sent a shiver down my spine.
Why?
Well.....call it a completely irrational fear, but I've had nightmares about being eaten by....dinosaurs. Ever since I was a kid, it's been what I'd deem a 'crappiest way to die' scenario. The ironic thing is that I totally enjoyed all three of the 'Jurassic Park' movies.
Like I said - it's totally irrational, especially since the chances of my encountering a dinosaur in my lifetime are astronomical at best.
Now if you factor in the possibility of time travel......well, I digress.
So why would this photo spook me? Well, to be honest I have never ever seen a wild hog/boar this big; this sucker could easily eat a grown human and quickly.
So, now I have to strike 'wandering in the woods of Georgia' off my Things to Do in Life list.
UPDATE: Well, there was some controversy as to whether or not the photo was staged and/or faked. It turns out that this wasn't a fake photo, but the pig wasn't wild either - it was someone's pet pig that escaped a few days earlier.

Something I saw at LGF that I thought I'd comment on:
Ain't that the truth?I've been saying this pretty much since I jumped into the blogsphere a few years ago - that the 'thundering silence' coming from American Muslims is simply deafening. Many Muslim/Islamic activist groups or associations or coupon clubs are ever-so-quick to scream about bigotry or racism or whatever the social-crime de jour is at the drop of a hat, but when we see news reports or video footage of any sort of incident being perpetrated by Muslim/Islamic coupon clubs, there's nothing by the sound of jaws hitting the ground.
And it's not so much the demand for outrage when it's obvious that a Muslim or Islamic coupon welder is at the center of the action, but we keep hearing that 'most Muslims do not condone these sorts of attacks' followed by crickets chirping.
It is said that actions speak louder than words - let's see this put into action.....especially when someone like a UN ambassador points out the duck sitting at the table and comments on the walk of the duck, talk of the duck, the distinct 'quack' of the duck and no one else appears to have a clue as to what is being said.
Quack is the word......help spread it today.
UPDATE: Well, here is someone writing for the Opinion Journal that seems to be catching some of that 'thunder' and asking what's up with most Muslims.....where is their outrage over the completely obvious hijacking of their religion?

Hello Mad Mikey! I was searching around on the internet to look at dialysis stuff, and I ran across your blog.
|| Posted by Julie, May 23, 2007 01:27 PM ||I also have/had however you put it, renal failure and I am only 19 years old. I found out march 2006. Luckily I only had dialysis for 9 months. But I had a pretty nasty disease. I had goodpastures syndrome that attacked my lungs and kidneys. My kidneys hemoraged and bled to death, and it started attacking my lungs. I had stage 5 renal failure. less that 5% kidney function. I had to be on kemotheraopy for 9 months to get rid of the antibodies in my system. And the only reason I got a transplant so fast, is that my 21 year old brother was an identical match. I'm so sorry for what you have gone through. It's hard. Although your dialysis seems much easier on your body than mine was. I would nearly faint ever time I got off of dialysis and felt like crap every single day for 9 months. I never had a fistula, i refused, and I had a cathador in my neck that whole time. I hope everything works out for you in the future! -Julie
Hey Julie,
Wow! You've certainly had (and still have) a plate-full of stuff to deal with.
There are days (like today) where I'm a 'hurting unit' after dialysis; my problem stems from neuropathy in my feet, which makes my feet feel both numb and 'on fire' at the same time. For the moment, I deal with the pain using Percocet.
Thanks for leaving a note for me. While I don't like 'sharing in other people's misery', it does help to know that there are other people out there that are dancing to the same tune that I'm forced to listen to repeatedly.
Take care.
|| Posted by Mad Mikey, May 23, 2007 03:11 PM ||About the kidneys: there are hopes of getting one's own precursor or stem cells to regenerate a kidney on a framework of biocompatible 3D structure. I hope it won't be many years before something like that works.
As to the Muslim outrage, here's something from last December that might give you some hope for that:

Total Crap
I haven't talked about the Bush-Kennedey Immigration Reform bill that's currently in the Senate (I think) simply because I think it's a complete waste of time, money, and blogging time.
Do I care about the sovereignty of the United States of America? You bet I am.
Then why aren't I supporting this piece-of-crap? Because it's the same crap that's always brought up:
- Amnesty for 12 million illegal aliens, but it's called something else
- 'Toughening Up' of the border - Yes, we're going to really build that fence, man it, and really put a presence on the border and it's left wide open
- Comprehensive immigration reform - no 'cutting' in the line to gain citizenship....unless you meet 'specific criteria' and then it's automatic citizenship.
The usual crap that almost everyone is tired of and the same reason that more and more people are ditching their GOP membership. That and there's just so much of it to keep track of that all I can really do is roll my eyes. Michelle Malkin has somehow been able to keep up with all of the smoke-n-mirrors.
SLIGHT ADDENDUM: It cannot be said any simpler than this:

Loved that song when it first came out. It was my third album purchase, after the Starwars soundtrack and ELO's Out Of The Blue (whick I mainly dug because of the cool album cover and inside artwork).

Burn Baby, BURN!
Another anti-war scumbag is dragged out into the sunlight to burn up:
I heard about this on the radio this morning as I was heading to dialysis. It's always a hoot to see some poster-boy of the anti-war cessepool being paraded around just fall on their faces - it's even better to see one that's committed fraud against the government getting their head 'nailed to a desk'.
Hey Jesse - maybe you'll be able to impress everyone in your cellblock with your
bullshit*cough* war stories right before you're traded for a pack of smokes....(Hat tip to Michelle Malkin for the link)

Ah, Mikey... Ever the UBER-GEEK!!
By the way, How do you "prove" a process for determining the mass of a black hole?? Bring it to earth and weigh it?? Or is it all that geeky math stuff?!
|| Posted by sturgesbob, May 18, 2007 04:58 PM ||By the way, How do you "prove" a process for determining the mass of a black hole??
Ahhh.....it's complicated. I could tell you, but then you'd tell someone else....they'd repeat it to God-only knows who and the next thing you know: we're all walking around comparing methods of determining the masses of black holes.
That would be pure chaos and I won't have anything to do with the downfall of Western civilization using this methodology....

And They Wonder...
....why we think they'll be the undoing of Western civilization?
Oh, I don't know.....maybe it how they react to someone dying?
Good God.....can you imagine the shear volume of foaming-from-the-mouth that would inundate the world if people cracked jokes about George Soros choking to death on a chicken wing? Or how about if SWWNBN was hit by a satellite falling out of orbit? (reference to 'Northern Exposure' and one of Maggie's boyfriends). Or what if Michael J. Fox died tragically in a Jenga accident?
Seriously - there would probably be people immolating themselves over such offenses.
Yeah, Reverend Falwell did make some.....unwise comments in his time but to be celebrating his death?
To me, that's pretty F'ed up.....and they wonder why some people giggle while watching leftists getting their heads THONKED by the police at protests.....

It is no more fucked up then making a comment the 9-11 was God's revenge on sinful people. Or that Katrina was God's revenge on immorality.
So I cannot say I am surpirsed that people are celebrating that scumbag's death. Personally, I don't think celebrating ANYONE's death is appropriate, but it still does not mean the guy was a piece of garbage close minded lying scamming bigot.
And hipocrasy Mikey - next time a muslim diies, don't go "celebrating"

Shoot Me Now
I was going to start this post with the opening sentence beginning with:
but after typing it out and looking at it, I realized that unless you haven't had one of those days then you're obviously living in a bubble.
Well.....today wasn't exactly one of those days that qualifies the usage of quotation marks, but it wasn't one of my nicer days either.
It started this morning when I was trying to get my daughter out of bed and ready for school. Typically, the only two known things that suceed in this endevour where I normally fail is my wife or the suitable application of high explosives.
Once my daughter was out of bed and starting her morning routine, every time that I'd speak to her she'd.....not quite bark at me, but her tone of voice was starting to make me feel like an idiot. Normally my daughter isn't cruel, mean, or harsh, but I just seemed to be getting the wrong tone from her. Well, I decided to minimize my talking to her just to avoid making a weird situation worse.
The rest of the day sort of went like that: not mean, cruel, harsh, but it seemed like everything that could irritate me actually did. And most of this 'action' was while I was at school.
Here's a typical example:
If you're walking along a sidewalk and come to an intersection (where you have to get to some destination across the street), what would you or any other typical person do:
- Stop, look both ways, and then cross the street, or
- keep walking without breaking your stride straight out into the street since you're obviously the most-important-person-on-planet-Earth and cannot be bothered to concern yourself for your own safety?
Well, it would seem that most of the students that I encountered at UCSD today were opting for the second choice.Seriously - practically every person that was walking near me as I was driving around the campus was just flat-out walking out into the street and not looking around. Or even worse: they were looking for oncoming traffic, see me coming along and still proceed to walk out into the street. This happened so many times that I lost count.
And honestly.....there were a few times that I almost didn't stop since I'd be doing the world a favor my taking them out of the gene pool.
But I didn't; if they were in a crosswalk that was marked on the street, then I'd be charged with murder or manslaughter since they were 'legal'. Besides, I'd also have to get out and clean the splatter off the hood of my truck.
Today was a slightly varied version of those days where I know for a fact that all of the stupid people in San Diego are coordinating with each other to purposefully impede me as I attempt to go about my business.
Ugh....just shoot me now.

Methinks your daughter is not a big fan of the menstraul cycle. :) You really want to tick her off, be nice. It'll drive her insane.
About the kids at UCSD. It's part of working off of a primitive part of the brain. They haven't switched over to the pre-frontal lobes yet, and so they literally don't notice things right in front of them. It also comes from having no clue as to what the world is like. I'll bet a lot of them weren't allowed to get hurt, and so have no understanding of how much the world can hurt.
I recall a bit in which a comic gives his advice on what to tell your kid when he burns his fingers on the stove, "Bet you aint gonna do that again."

Please Don't Make Me Pay
This is probably complete crap, but if it's legitimate.....she's got some balls:
Besides the spectacular grammar, I.....well, I don't really know what to make of this. If by chance it's real, then Ms. Hilton has got some balls.Normally, I don't really get into celeb-crap, but here's a spot of advice for the heiress: do the time and stop getting hammered. You've got enought money to hire someone full time to drive you around.
