More Sci Fi Friday this evening with another barrage of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica. The one change from last Friday is that (hopefully) there will not be another power outage, planned or otherwise.
Just a snippet of why I talk about this all the time (or most of the time): for the last few years, mostly since I've been in school, I've gotten more and more irritated with broadcast (and some cable) programming.
For the most part, I've usually got too much happening - school homework, family, or being sick - to waste time watching the same mindless crap on the boob tube.
Bearing this in mind is why I've pretty much limited myself to watching stuff on the Sci Fi Channel on Friday evenings - it's my 'weekly reward'.
Oh sure I might watching some psuedo-documentaries on Discovery Channel or the History Channel or maybe even The Military Channel (which I just recently discovered), but for the most part I watch stuff on Friday evenings with the occasional smattering of FoxNews in the morning ifi my daughter doesn't groan too loudly (this from a kid that watches multiple hours of the lame Hanna Barbara cartoons from the late-60s/early-70s on Boomerang).
So since today is Friday, it's time for me to go 'off-line' and indulge my inner geek in some juicy science fiction.

|| Posted by kyer, January 15, 2006 08:07 PM ||Mikey is a good friend of mine and I too am sick about this. There's something special about him...no matter what life is throwing his way, he has a smile, a gentle spirit and a kind heart. He's passionate about his love for our military and he's even more passionate about his family. He's a special guy. I was out of town this weekend visiting family and came home to the message. I've been sad and sick to my stomach ever since.
Mikey...when you're able to read this entry and our comments, know that we are thinking about you and lifting prayers for you. We love you very much and desperately want you to get better. Soon.
Love,

CodePunk Caught Red Handed
Here's another aspect of CodePink that clearly shows that they're not 'supporting the troops' one iota:
Read More of "CodePunk Caught Red Handed"And just like the D.C. Police, I know for-a-fact that San Diego Police would be more than helpful to get this type of behavior stopped - dead in its tracks.
As for San Diego's version of CodePink protesting outside of Balboa Naval Hospital, it's pretty much dying on the vine these days. CodePink used to occupy the corners of Park Blvd. and President's Way two times a month - that is, until SDPW started taking notice.
Now, they only do it once a month and then they only can have a 'walk in the park' to try to make some impression on the people enjoying Balboa Park on a Sunday afternoon; they fail to even do that.
SDPW will be keeping an eye on the situation and making these *cough* events a distant memory.

Heath, you've got the 'chops' for acting - stick to it instead of sitting on a fence post crowing about what is 'racism' and what isn't. (BTW, racism is not liking a person of a specific creed or ethnic group whereas bigotry is probably the word/label you were looking for...you dumb bunny. )
[/Daffy Duck]
Do I have a problem personally with 'Brokeback Mountain'? I dunno....hadn't really planned on seeing this movie. Maybe when it comes out on DVD, but that too is doubtful. But if we're to follow Mr. Ledger's mind-set, then I'm under obligation to watch it under penalty of being called a
racistbigot. And if that's the worst that happens to me in-the-near future, then I'd be lucky.

Also in that article he says that it is "hilarious and immature" of the "Mormons in Utah" to ban the film.
Newsflash, Heath: The movie wasn't banned in Utah. ONE Theatre in Salt Lake City decided not to show it. And so what if people of a certain religion that believes the homosexuality is a sin won't go see a movie that glorifies boy kissing? If you ask me, it is very mature of someone to freakin' choose God over a homo cowboys.

Making Demands, Are We?
Exsqueeze me!?
And I demand more refried beans with my Three-Rolled Taco entree. It's so nice/funny to see nations demand certain concessions from the United States when they're....well, in NO position to be making demands. It's sort of like your spoiled nephew demanding more chocolate pudding or else he'll hold his breath....

Btw, How ya feelin these days Mikey?
|| Posted by Tetzman, January 10, 2006 12:17 PM ||Btw, How ya feelin these days Mikey?
Ehh.
To be honest, I'm learning that when people ask 'How are you feeling ?' that they don't really want to hear the details.
Long story short: been dealing with a psuedo-flu for the last month - the docs are still scratching their heads over it. In short: shitty.
But then again....life isn't pretty all the time.

LMAO. Good one.
I don't even bother with intelligent discourse with this topic any longer.

Smash vs. Bob Filner
Once again, I'm not feeling so hot this morning - damn migraine & nausea are back.
But I thought I'd link to something that I was witness to yesterday: Citizen Smash versus Congressman Bob Filner.
(Audio mp3 of the exchange here)
And here a first-person witness that really puts it all into perspective and just exactly how the crowd in that church were quasi-ill to realize that someone would dare ask a serious question.
Good stuff - all around.
More later from my perspective if I'm feeling better....
