Cindy Sheehan Moves to Crawford, Locals Not AmusedHer son's grave still doesn't have a proper gravestone and yet SWWNBN splurge's for property in Crawford to protest.Crawford- Anti-War Activist Cindy Sheehan is going to become a neighbor of President Bush, and local residents are not happy about the mess.
On the Gold Star Families For Peace website, Sheehan explained how Central Texas had grown on her. She now wants a permanent place where she and fellow protestors can go to demonstrate against President Bush.
Peace Supporter, Gerry Fonseca, says he purchased the 5-acre parcel, which cost more than $52,000. It was bought with the money frome her son, Casey's, life insurance policy.
Yup.....SWWNBN should be nominated for Mother of the Year.

Let me ask this - since her son DIED ffor THIS COUNTRY in UNIFORM - why the fuck can't THIS COUNTRY pay for his gravestone?
|| Posted by Nunya, July 30, 2006 08:34 AM ||As I understand it, SWWNBN didn't request one from the government.
|| Posted by Mad Mikey, July 30, 2006 10:46 AM ||She shouldn't have to. He was one of their sons and brothers. OOr is that all bullshit talk one hears about how much of a family the military is (as I think about the homeless vets out there in the streets)
|| Posted by nunya, July 30, 2006 12:47 PM ||None the less, as I understand the situation - SWWNBN didn't formally request one from the government; if fact, I believe that she didn't want one there for some insane reason.....
|| Posted by Mad Mikey, July 30, 2006 01:25 PM ||Mikey's right -- the government offers a free gravestone (among other things, including an insurance payout, as well as a gratuity to pay for funeral costs) for any person who dies while on active duty, in combat or in peacetime.
For some reason that is not entirely clear to me, Cindy Sheehan refused the government grave marker. But she did take the money.
She's taken a lot of flak for not marking her son's grave -- justifiably, in my opinion -- while she runs all over God's creation whining about not getting a second audience with the President. Yes, I said SECOND audience. She's already met with him once.
Cindy Sheehan had legal custody over Casey's gravesite, and therefore was the only one who could legally place a marker on his grave. After much pressure and embarassment from some media outlets, and bloggers like Mikey and myself, she finally transferred custody to her ex-husband Patrick, Casey's father, a few months ago.
On May 25, 2006, Patrick Sheehan had an elaborate grave marker installed on his son's gravesite -- two years, one month and 21 days after he fell in Iraq.
Cindy complained that the government should have paid for it.
