Brain Trust Speaks

Kerry Wants 20,000 Troops Home for Christmas Holidays

"It will be hard for this administration, but it is essential to acknowledge that the insurgency will not be defeated unless our troop levels are drawn down, starting immediately after successful elections in December," Kerry said in a speech prepared for delivery Wednesday at Georgetown University. Excerpts of the speech were obtained by the Associated Press.

And that's why you lost the election.....using such a stunning intellect John.

It's statements like this that make be really cringe when I imagine my kid uttering those five words that all parents fear might come true: You want fries with that?

(By way of Linda at Something....and Half of Something)

ACLU Continues to Scare Towns

Talk about the school yard bully aiming for the little kid in a wheelchair:

ACLU targets tiny cross on seal

Proving it does not discriminate against the size of the municipality it will take to court, the American Civil Liberties Union is locked in a legal battle with a small New Mexico town over a tiny cross on its seal – this after last year forcing the County of Los Angeles to remove a cross from its seal.

After being threatened with a lawsuit should it continue to use the seal, the city of Tijeras, N.M., – with a population of less than 500 – decided to place itself in a David and Goliath conflict with the ACLU to defend the presence of the cross.

In 1973, Tijeras adopted the seal, which was designed to symbolize the history of the town. It includes a conquistador's helmet and sword, a scroll, a desert plant, a fairly large religious symbol (the Native American zia) and a small Christian cross.

"Tiny cross inspectors are not permitted to fret about large non-Christian religious symbols, only undersized Christian ones," commented columnist John Leo about the case.

Since it is such a small town, Tijeras did not have the financial resources to battle the ACLU, so the Alliance Defense Fund, a pro-religious-liberty organization, has agreed to represent the municipality.

"The ACLU is once more specifically targeting a cross while it ignores Native American religious symbols," commented ADF senior counsel Gary McCaleb. "It reveals their desire to target all things Christian, regardless of the fact that the cross in the Tijeras seal is clearly an historic symbol and not an attempt to endorse any particular faith."

The ACLU should be focusing on more important things instead of trying to scare a town into capitulaiton....freakin morons.

Operation Thank You

With the milestone of 2000 American service members dead in Iraq, the anti-war psychos are planning to have a party over it.

If you're about to 'blow chunks' at the thought of people taking such joy over dead Americans, then join San Diego Protest Warrior as we continue with our smashing successful Operation Thank You.

This time around, we'll be in front of MCAS Miramar at the North Gate saying 'thank you' to our hometown heroes.

Who: Anyone who supports the military.

What: A demonstration of gratitude for our military and their families.

When: Friday, October 28th, 4:30 – 6pm.

Where: The North Gate of Miramar Marine Corps Air Station.

How: With American flags, and signs that simply read “Thank You.”

Why: To express our gratitude, boost morale, and counter the negative message of the defeatist demonstrators.

Join us as we continue to say 'thank you' to those that deserve it.

Proposition Summary

The Sacramento Bee has brief summaries on all of the propositions on the November 8th Special Election ballot. The one additional thing that is interesting is that it shows the major contributors both for and against each initiative.

I didn't see anything to indicate if the Bee's editor(s) have written about their recommendations on how to vote for the propositions.

I've already made my recommendations for these props - your mileage may vary....

Adjacent Jew-Haters

I've already checked on this and found that it is NOT by Dennis Miller, but rather Larry Miller.

Regardless, it's still funny and concise:

For those of you who don't like Dennis Miller, who is not Jewish, you may want to re-consider, as this is one of the most brilliant things he has ever done. For those who don't know, Dennis Miller is a comedian who had a show called Dennis Miller Live on HBO. He is not Jewish. He recently said the following about the Mid-East situation:

"A brief overview of the situation is always valuable, so as a service to all Americans who still don't get it, I now offer you the story of the Middle East in just a few paragraphs, which is all you really need.

Here we go: The Palestinians want their own country. There's just one thing about that: there are no Palestinians. It's a made up word. Israel was called Palestine for two thousand years. Like 'Wiccan,' 'Palestinian' sounds ancient but is really a modern invention. Before the Israelis won the land in the 1967 war, Gaza was owned by Egypt, the West Bank was owned by Jordan, and there were no 'Palestinians.'

As soon as the Jews took over and started growing oranges as big as basketballs, what do you know, say hello to the 'Palestinians,' weeping for their deep bond with their lost 'land' and 'nation.'
