Our anti-victory friends from CODEPINK are at it again. They've resumed their monthly protests outside Balboa Naval Hospital, in an effort to demoralize the local military community.
Once again, we will steal their thunder.
WHO: San Diego Protest Warrior, and anyone else who wants to come.
WHAT: A demonstration of gratitude and support for our military.
WHEN: Sunday, December 4 -- 11:30am - 1:30pm
WHERE: Corner of Park Blvd. & Presidents Way, Balboa Park (plenty of parking available)
HOW: With flags and signs expressing our appreciation and gratitude for our military and their families.
WHY: Because they want us to fail, and we are committed to victory.
Any San Diegans that would like to join us are more than welcome! And even though I'll be really, really, ridiculously busy prepping for final exams next week, I'll be there.
See you there!
UPDATE: The operation went as planned. We arrived early and claimed first one, then two corners.
CodePink arrived late (as usual) and proceeded to stand and gawk at us as if they didn't know what to make of SDPW stealing their thunder.....which they didn't.

And acting like a kitten that ran full-bore into a plate glass door and giving the impression that it meant to do that, CodePink then started walking through Balboa Park.
SDPW stealth operatives tailed them and they didn't draw much attention while walking first by the Organ Pavillion and then the Prado itself. The amount of attention they garnered was much akin to someone seeing a cute puppy and saying 'Hey - there's a cute puppy'.
They then sat around the water fountain in front of the Ruben H. Fleet Theater and continued to gather no attention.
There was one added bonus today: we had some kook show up and stand with SDPW for a while wearing a sandwich board that praised SWWNBN. The hassle that this kook brought was that we'd get people driving by and honking in support of us and he'd be raising his arms like he was at Special Olympics. Luckily, when CodePink started walking through Balboa Park, he followed them and eventually met up with them at the water fountain.
I got some photos of this clown and of the operation, as did other members of SDPW - I'll be posting mine in the next couple of days once final exams are done with on Tuesday.
UPDATE II: Smash has a run-down of Sunday's events with photos taken by SDPW 'stealth' operatives.
All done with "Stealing Their Thunder"?

Crab Nebula
Thought I'd put up a new photo taken by the Hubble Space Telescope of the Crab Nebula since it's chock-full-of-geekiness....and since I'm working (or will be shortly) on a paper about radio telescopes and the prospect of creating an antenna for a VLBI array that will make HST pale in comparison.
Of course - this is what looks good on paper mind you....

Christmas PartyI heard something similar on the radio this morning as I drove into work.
I'm sure this has been recycled numerous times since it's original inception, but it's still funny as it really does indeed reflect the psychosis brought on by trying to be politically correct in this day & age.
It's also another positive affirmation in my desire to get a degree in engineering and to not work in such positions as this one.

If you can help me out, please contact me. It won't earn money and it's just for my amusement, but the help would be appreciated.

Fall Quarter Finals
Final exams are next week and I'll be busy preparing for not only exams, but a sizeable paper for Stellar Astrophysics class on the subject of radio telescopes along with a Power Point presentation to accompany the paper.
Like the groundhog on February 2nd, I'll be coming out of my burrow sometime around next Wednesday.
With that in mind, posting will indeed be light to non-existant.

DUI Solution
Problem - deaths by drunk drivers continue to increase:
My solution: it's quite simple - immediate roadside execution if you blow a legal DUI administered by a police officer.Nothing sobers up a potential drunk driver like the notion of getting a .45-caliber slug inserted into their cranium at high velocity.
I'm not kidding - better to kill/execute ONE person along Interstate 5 than to allow him/her to take out someone permenantly while they're on their way to the store to get some milk. After reporting on the first dozen or so road-side executions, you'll see that DUI rate plummet severely.
It's either this or sentence the drunk driver to a life-time of being sodomized by angry gorrillas.

Dumbass.
I'll give him a slight nod of approval for at least admitting that he did it, but he's still a dumbass.Congrats Randy - you've made yourself look beyond stupid for your stupidity, your lack of firing neurons, and your continued ineptitude for even thinking that you'd get away with this.
In addition to making yourself a 100% complete ass-hatted clown, you've provided the Dems with more ammunition to use against those Republicans that aren't in the habit of taking bribes.
Damn!! This is the kind of crap that makes me contemplate changing my voter registration back to 'Decline to State'....

Michelle Malkin covers all the hooey over Stan 'Tookie' Williams facing a death sentence on December 13, 2005.
