Couple of things that I have been mulling about today:
- Want to see something that will make your heart swell with pride? Check out these 'Get Well' cards that a Brownie troop in Texas put together for a wounded OIF verteran in Walter Reed Hospital.
- Smash isn't messing around when he issues a call to arms. I plan on following through this afternoon when I get home from work (the boss isn't too keen on this type of stuff happening here at work even though he understands why).
- Finals are over and I managed to stave-off a heart attack during the last exam.
- I have an HTML coding problem that I've trying to figure out: check out the Yahoo News page. You see how when you do a 'rollover' on a story link that a mini pop-up window appears?
How can I get that to work here? That is: when you 'mouseover' a link, you get a picture to pop up?
I know (and verified) how to make one picture turn into another picture - check out my photo over on the right - but what about getting a link to do the same thing?

Never Forget
Sixty-four years ago, on December 7th, 1941, the Empire of Japan launched a surprise attack on American air & naval forces in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Over 2,400 American soldiers, sailors, Marines, and civilians were killed - just under 1,200 were wounded.
The American public seathed with an anger the likes of which had never been seen before. They swore to strike back at the Japanese, to make them pay - pay dearly - to never, ever forget who they had provoked and who would crush their nation.
As with most wounds, time has eased the pain that those survivors still feel. The Japanese learned from their mistake and have paid for their error in judgement. They've become one of our closest allies since 1945. But they'll never forget just who crushed them in just three years & nine months after being attacked.
The Japanese people, while they don't like to talk about it, haven't forgotten what happened 64 years ago. Neither have the remaining survivors of the Pearl Harbor attack.
And neither should you.

Miko once commented that most of the older students she has say that being defeated & occupied by the US was the best thing that could have happened to them.
|| Posted by Cait, December 8, 2005 04:28 AM ||Yep, I agree. But we're talking apples and oranges here, believe me. Japan was - and still is, to some extent - a relatively isolated country with almost no friends. That in itself is a huge difference. And anyway, the oldies are dying out now, leaving young ones who have vastly different attitudes.

Wait Till the Cows Come Home
But, I have a couple of phrases to impart to Charlize about waiting for gay marriage to become law here in the United States: common-law spouse and palimony.

So, apparently, then, they don't plan to get married at all. I don't think gay unions will become legal in their lifetimes.

well, victory doesn't fit in with their platform and political goals, does it? It's terribly sad that we have defeatist political leaders like Dean and Pelosi. I wonder if they make our troops laugh or cry...
|| Posted by nathalie, December 5, 2005 09:19 PM ||Cry. Such comments really are hurtful to our troops.
|| Posted by Cait, December 6, 2005 05:23 AM ||Please pray for Howard Dean and his allies. They are so blinded by their dogma and hatred. According to the Holy Spirit's message on The Christian Prophet blog, the U.S. has already achieved great spiritual victories in Iraq. The U.S. needs a Democratic Party that is spiritually attuned and seeing clearly. Please pray.

Final Exams Update
Well, today is the day that I have all of my final exams.
At 11:30am, it's Physics 160 - Stellar Astrophysics where I'll be turning in my paper on radio telescopes and doing my PowerPoint presentation. The paper and the presentation are ready.....that's the easy part of today.
At 2:30pm, the final for ECE 102 - Intro to Analog Electronic Circuits starts. This is the one that I'm sort of dreading as:
- The material is challenging and there's a ton to be covered,
- The professor is IMO a jerk, and
- The professor is still a jerk.
It's not that I have an 'attitude' about this class - just the professor. Maybe this guy will indeed perform as others who've taken his classes before: he'll make the final exam easier than expected and grade on a gracious scale. I hope so....And after this day ends, all I really have to worry about is getting ready for Christmas.

Its not Bill Coles is it? He's.. got quite the rep for being the biggest ass you'll ever meet in your life, hahaha.
|| Posted by nick, December 7, 2005 04:03 PM ||Nope - not Coles. Actually, I've never taken a class with him yet.
No, this clown is new. Search for the class website to see who it is....
|| Posted by Mad Mikey, December 7, 2005 07:04 PM ||Intersting.. looks like alot of new profs. I took 102 back in '01. Not sure if that or 107 was the worst ee class ever.
Of course, 107 is probably the most important class now adays with anything dealing with digital or analog circuits.

Filner is Squeaky Clean?
Got wind of this just this morning and thought I'd take 10 minutes out of my cramming for finals to showcase this South Bay scumbag:
Okay, one question that pops into my mind: WTF!?!This is the kind of crap that initially steered prosecutors to Randy 'Duke' Cunningham and his taking of bribes; not so much this 'mystery' consulting firm, but the whole stink of the situation.
Filner has got a metric ton of explaining to do and quite possibly be brought up on charges of improper campaign financial dealings, especially since he's the type of jerk to jump up and down if this were pinned to a Republican representative.
