After emerging from the hospital three weeks ago after missing the bullet of a stroke, I've now been broadsided by a cold.....a cold that was facilitated by my daughter bringing it home from the 'Disease Transfer Center' aka school.
Wonderful.
On a lighter note, I have located the cable to download photos from this past weekend's Operation Proud Banner; I just have to get my head clear enough to put the after-action report together with the appropriate photos.
With that in mind, I'm going to lay down and take a nap.

My husband is usually the transfer facilitator, seeing as how he gets coughed on by 150 14 year olds every day.
Thank goodness not ALL their disease transfer so easily.

Richard 'Butt Monkey' Belzer Bloviates
I've seen this over the last few days and have been debating as to whether I should comment on Richard's superb lack of finesse; this appears to be another 'Butt Monkey Launch':
As I mention in my little sidebar on the right-hand side called 'About Me', I point out that getting offended here in the U.S. isn't a right that's guarenteed under the Bill of Rights and this is where my own words come back to haunt me: I can't really get bent out of shape because of putz from Hollywood comes across like he's a genius as compared to us dumb 19 or 20 year olds that couldn't get a job and joined the military instead.Richard, you're a decent actor and a comic, but you might want to walk a mile or two in ourshoes/boots before you start bloviating. You're just another example of why people get tired of the Hollywood nimrods that seem to think that because you're able to portray a character on the small or big screen that it gives you gravitas to make such broad statements about the caliber of people in the American military. I enlisted 20 years ago not because I didn't have any options in front of me - I wanted to serve my country.
In other words Dick: Step the F*ck Off!

I like all of the Law & Order series. Your post harkens back to a bok title I heard of, called "Shut Up & Sing!", by Laura Ingram.
Belz, STFU and ACT!
|| Posted by Tetzman, March 21, 2006 12:40 PM ||I had to comment, partly because you used "bloviating" and bloviate.net is my site. ;) Partly because you are 100% right. I'd say more if it were actually possible.
My brother in law joined the marines at 17 because they wouldn't take him earlier and that's what he wanted to do. The guy is pretty smart, I mean he graduated highschool at 14...
My dad joined the airforce after having numerous good jobs, because he wanted to serve his country, not to mention that the air force offers some of the best opportunities to get into a technical field around.
I have yet to meet the stereotypical "dumb grunt" military man.
Hell, one of my good friends up here is a graphic artist, holds one or two bachelors degrees, but he is still in the service because he loves his country, and he tells me that he has a blast doing the things that they do.
I learned long ago that "dumb 19 & 20 year olds" were way smarter than those dumbasses in hollywood.
|| Posted by redbaron, March 21, 2006 01:47 PM ||From here on, I'll think of him as "Butt" Munch.
|| Posted by Cait, March 21, 2006 03:01 PM ||Nice to see you haven't lost your inimitable "touch"...
Butt-munch indeed! And worse.
Props to Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen for trying to go toe to toe with him!
|| Posted by caltechgirl, March 21, 2006 03:26 PM ||I mock the stupidity which is he.
|| Posted by Yogimus, March 21, 2006 03:28 PM ||Well stated. Nice blog, too.

Current Earworm
Currently obsessing over 'That Was Yesterday' and it's bass line....and not because I'm lamenting a lost love - it's just a....moving song IMHO.
One of the things that I've missed doing lately is playing my bass and it's songs like this one that get me motivated to return to one of my former passions of life.
I'm sure there are musicians out there - and I'm proud to say that I'm one - that can understand my perspective on this....
Anyone familiar with the bass in this song?

Thank you for reminding me of that track. I'm listening to it now...with great and refreshing pleasure.

|| Posted by Mad Mikey, March 22, 2006 10:39 AM ||Dude, did you know that Foreigner will be here on Aug. 4? Guess who's opening for them? None other than my boy Joe Bonamassa. How 'bout we find a way to take the fam? I'll work on getting on the guest list for a couple of tix. I say we start fundraising for the rest...
|| Posted by Da Goddess, March 24, 2006 11:34 PM ||Just guessing, but it's probably a stiped bass.
