Cronkite: Losing His Marbles

Walter Cronkite needs to check the label on his meds:

It's all those blue pills I tell ya....Former CBSNEWS anchorman Walter Cronkite believes Bush adviser Karl Rove is possibly behind the new Bin Laden tape.

Cronkite made the startling comments late Friday during an interview on CNN.

Cronkite said he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."

Interviewer Larry King did not ask Cronkite to elaborate on the provocative election eve accusation.

'Kids, you're safe with these deflectors on'Is this man insane? With crackpot statements like this, the next thing out of Walter's mouth will be about endorsing the use of tin-foil hats to keep your brain safe from mind-controlling beams sent from Department of Suppression satellites in geosynchronous orbit.

I'm serious.....wait for it.

Kerry Supporters Go Get Gas

So yesterday after dealing with yet another doctor's appointment, I went down to Price Club/Costco to get some gas.

I pull up the shortest line and shut off the engine. The car immediately in front of me is some japanese import (Honda?) with a Kerry/Edwards '04 sticker taped up in the back window.

I thought: 'Well, there has to be someone around here that's a Kerry backer...' and turned on the CD player to listen to some Oingo Boingo.

SoCal Blechs

The server where this blog resides was 'down' most of yesterday for some unknown reason and by the time it was up again, I was too wiped out to blather about much of anything.

Today I've got TWO midterms back-to-back with the first one starting in about 45 minutes.

So, so summarize the last 48 hours: blech.

I can say that I'm looking forward to the election on Tuesday - mostly because I'm really burned out after nine months of politics.

Of course, when President Bush is re-elected, the amount of whining about 'stolen elections' and 'disenfranchised voters' will be plentiful. And then it'll be more 'blech'.

Details Make the Story

I was trying to find any other MSM that was talking about Drudge's breaking news last night about how the missing plastic explosives splattered all over the front page of the New York Times were missing before U.S. troops arrived in Baghdad, but it would seem that no one is interested in quelling this October surprise.

And then I check (of all the places) CNN and wadda-ya-know? Here it is.

Report: Explosives already gone when U.S. troops arrived

NBC News says its crew was embedded with soldiers at time

(CNN) -- The mystery surrounding the disappearance of 380 tons of powerful explosives from a storage depot in Iraq has taken a new twist, after a network embedded with the U.S. military during the invasion of Iraq reported that the material had already vanished by the time American troops arrived.

NBC News reported that on April 10, 2003, its crew was embedded with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division when troops arrived at the Al Qaqaa storage facility south of Baghdad.

While the troops found large stockpiles of conventional explosives, they did not find HMX or RDX, the types of powerful explosives that reportedly went missing, according to NBC.

I am actually suprised that CNN is the first up on reporting this.

What is also interesting is that Drudge Report is saying that this was 'broken' by NBC News and yet - there's NOTHING on MSNBC. Curious.

I find that it's the details of the story that make it interesting....

What is also interesting is that the IAEA was notified October 10th about the *cough* missing explosives and decided just now to release this information - ONE WEEK before the U.S. election?

No Myth Here

Here are some of those 'lies' that say Kerry is weak on defense:

Kerry's Liberal Record on Defense

  • During his 20-year Senate career, John Kerry has voted to cut the Pentagon’s budget 38 times.1

  • Kerry has voted 12 times against providing a pay increase to our military men and women.2

  • In 2003, Kerry voted against providing $87 billion in funding for our troops in Iraq.3

  • In 2002, Kerry voted six times against President Bush’s proposal to establish a Department of Homeland Security in the aftermath of 9/11.4

  • In 1996, Kerry introduced legislation to cut the defense budget by $6.5 billion.5

  • In 1995, Kerry voted to cut the defense budget by $34 billion.6

  • In 1995, Kerry voted to cut the FBI’s budget by $80 million.7

  • In 1994, one year after the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, Kerry proposed cutting the Intelligence budget by $7.5 billion.8

  • In 1984, at the one of the most critical stages of the Cold War, John Kerry ran for the Senate on a platform of eliminating several of President Reagan’s weapons systems that proved critical to defeating the Soviet Union. Among these programs Kerry wanted to eliminate were: The MX Missile, B-1 Bomber, National Missile Defense System, Patriot Air Defense System, and the F-14 Fight Jets. 9

Food for thought come next Tuesday....

Picks for 2004 California Props

This is something I had intended to do about a month ago, but have procrastinated on long enough...especially considering that the election is next week.

Now, these are my opinion(s) on this propositions; they're what I'm thinking when I consider are these proposed changes good for me and/or good for California. Your opinion(s) might differ from mine and you might consider what I've written to be just chock-full-of-crap.

As the saying goes: 'Your mileage may vary'.
