Quartet of Terror

Image of bombers' deadly journey

Police have released a CCTV image of the four London bombers as they set out from Luton on their bombing mission.

They have also confirmed the names of all four men for the first time.

Mohammad Sidique Khan, 30, Germaine Lindsay, 19, Hasib Hussain, 18, and Shahzad Tanweer, 22, were pictured in Luton at 0720 BST on Thursday 7 July.

Three bombs exploded on the London underground at 0850 BST, and one on a bus at 0947. Fifty-five people died, including the four bombers.

The picture was released in an attempt to find out more about their final movements.

Peter Clarke, head of the Anti-Terrorist Branch, said: "The investigation continues on many fronts, but we have been very grateful for the contribution made by the public in response to our previous appeals.

I'm thinking that since the homicide bombers/terrorists have been identified the Brits should take a cue from the Israelis: bulldoze their houses....

Geek Nirvana

I have been waiting since January for this evening. Tonight is when the season premieres of:

all happen on the Sci Fi Channel.

[/geek laughter]

UPDATE: It was a great three hours - even more if you caught the 'Sci Fi Friday' special before Stargate SG-1.

The inclusion of new characters in Stargate SG-1 is very appealing. Will they blossom into great characters? My opinion is that they will; it'll be awkward for a while, but they will.

I do not like what they're doing to Lt. Ford in Stargare Atlantis, but I'm hoping that the writers have a bigger purpose for this in mind in future episodes as I'm sure that this is a fragment of the story arc and that it'll come back together for something good.

Best line of the night
Bitch stole my ride!

More Dictation?

Here is something I heard about on the radio yesterday that will just make you want to throw something....another Third-World cesse pool dictating to the United States.

It concerns some testimony given to a Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the topic of border security.

The man testifying was former Mexican Foreign Minister Jorge Castaneda and he made his point very clear: there can never be a 'secure border' without the help of Mexico and that help will only come when three 'conditions' are met:

  • amnesty for all Mexicans living illegally in the U.S.
  • the admission of some 5 million additional Mexican citizens to the U.S. over the next 10 years
  • massive increases in U.S. aid to that country
The official said if such reform is enacted, Mexico would offer "tough" but "non-coercive" assistance in the effort to prevent terrorists from entering the U.S. via Mexico.
How do you say 'kiss my ass' in Spanish?

Oooh, I have a better idea: put the National Guard from California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas on the border with express orders to enforce the border, i.e., shoot anyone crossing illegally.

THAT will be harsh, but very effective. And it'll send a message to Senor Castenada: We don't need your stinking bad-jeez!!

United Nations Absurdity

Here's a glimpse into the *cough* workings of the United Nations and it's panel that was created to recommend how the Internet should be run in the future and we're talking Keystone Cops type mentality:

U.N. Panel Presents 4 Internet Options

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - A U.N. panel created to recommend how the Internet should be run in the future has failed to reach consensus but did agree that no single country should dominate.

The United States stated two weeks ago that it intended to maintain control over the computers that serve as the Internet's principal traffic cops.

In a report released Thursday, the U.N. panel outlined four possible options for the future of Internet governance for world leaders to consider at a November "Information Society" summit.

[...]

Developing countries have been frustrated that Western countries that got on the Internet first gobbled up most of the available addresses required for computers to connect, leaving developing nations to share a limited supply.

And some countries want faster approval of domain names in non-English characters - China even threatened a few years ago to split the Internet in two and set up its own naming system for Chinese.

I love that part - '...Western countries that got on the Internet first gobbled up most of the available addresses'. Here's a clue alert: the Western nations MADE the Internet; you 'developing nations' need to get your shit wired first before you start dictating policy to the nation that created the freaking Internet.

Damn....that's like Lichtenstein telling the United States how to manage it's space programs. Just beyond absurd.

Dipstick of the Week II

By way of Citizen Smash comes the next finalist for 'Dipstick of the Week':

Say What?

THE SAN DIEGO DEMOCRATS have gone out of their effing minds.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the San Diego Democratic Central Committee asks Congress to immediately begin impeachment proceedings against President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld...
In the 2004 Presidential Election, Bush beat Kerry in San Diego County by six percentage points. Regardless of how they feel about the Iraq War, local Democrats should be working on outreach, not pushing away potential crossover voters.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I'm thinking that a couple of people there have stopped taking their court-ordered medications.....

The Horror

Guantanamo interrogators forced male suspect to wear bra

UNITED States interrogators at Guantanamo Bay subjected a suspected terrorist to abusive and degrading treatment, forcing him to wear a bra, dance with another man and behave like a dog, military investigators said yesterday.

Oh the horror.

Will anti-war protesters start wearing bras to 'simulate' this torture like they do with Abu Grahib prisoners knealing with hoods on? I'm sure it'll be a first for some of those female protesters....

Dane Takes a Stand

By way of Michelle Malking comes a great story of a Danish pizzeria owner who actively told French and German tourists that they were not welcome in his resturant.

For his stand on the War on Terror and his contempt for France and Germany, he was fined and now jailed for his opinion:

Pizzeria Owner Jailed for Refusing to Serve French, German Tourists in Iraq Protest

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) - A Danish pizzeria owner was jailed Tuesday for refusing to serve French and German tourists in protesting their countries' opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

A Danish court found Aage Bjerre guilty of discrimination and fined him $900. Bjerre refused to pay, and will now serve an eight-day sentence.

"I'm doing it to show my sympathy with the United States. It shows how seriously I mean it," he told The Associated Press by telephone. "But one should also remember that eight days is a small price to pay when American soldiers go to Iraq and risk their limbs and lives."

In February 2003, before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, Bjerre posted two signs barring Germans and French from his pizzeria on Denmark's western island of Fanoe. His refusal to serve them drew criticism in this Scandinavian country, where the government supported the war while its citizens were split.

Bravo Mr. Bjerre!!

Aage is now starting up an Internet-based business here; stop by and check it out.

Karl Rove - Blabbermouth?

Bush Won't Comment on Rove During Probe

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush said Wednesday that he will withhold judgment about top aide Karl Rove's involvement in leaking the identity of a CIA agent until a federal criminal investigation into the matter is complete.

"This is a serious investigation," Bush said at the end of a meeting with his Cabinet, with Rove sitting just behind him. "I will be more than happy to comment on this matter once this investigation is complete.

"I also will not prejudge the investigation based on media reports," he said, when asked whether Rove acted improperly in discussing CIA officer Valerie Plame with a reporter.

Rove talked about Plame - without using her name - in a July 11, 2003, conversation with Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper. Cooper wrote an article that identified her.

I've held off commenting about this for two reasons:
  1. The investigation is still chugging along, and
  2. I nor anyone else for all practical purposes aren't in possession of all of the facts.
But I will tell you something that occured to me this morning while watching the news: if it was indeed Karl Rove that 'outted' Valerie Plame, wouldn't those that are in the 'know' want to immediately narc him out? While I don't know about the Time magazine reporter, surely Judith Miller of The New York Times would prefer to bring shame upon the Bush administration and avoid jail, right?

Like I said - it's just an observation that I made this morning. And in my opinion, Rove isn't some third- or fourth-rate White House slacker - he's quite the player in the political arena and as such, isn't going to do something as stupid as confide in the freaking media about such a sensitive item.

Opinion not valid in some states. See website for complete rules. Offer void where prohibited.

UPDATE: As I said before, the investigation is still on-going, but here is something to ponder since all of this information is in the public record.

YES I realize it is from the GOP, but the quotes are legitimate.
