Not Unprofessional - Truthful

Unprofessional? Not in my world you're not.

By way of Citizen Smash:

Control Group

Dodd takes notice of the insanity of some people:

Some days I'm convinced that these people aren't really this nutty but, rather, that stuff like this is just an act designed to make left-liberal Democrats who want to nationalize health care look "mainstream." But it's fleeting since the evidence is pretty overwhelming that they really are this crazy.
I'm kind of bummed that I didn't think of this (as a joke) before the theory that the evil U.S. was behind the tsunami was put forth (with a straight face too). This is the kind of thinking that makes (and breaks) television sit-coms.

I don't think it is so much attributed to insanity than we're seeing what the control group for anti-retard medication does in their spare time.....

Cat Blogging Friday

I don't have a image of either of my cats handy, so I thought I'd show another kind of 'cat' - the F8F Bearcat that was flown by my father when he was a member of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, the Blue Angels in the late 1940s.

Say What? Redux

I was floored when I heard about this yesterday:

Couple Who Locked Boy In Trunk Avoid Prison
7-Year-Old Said He Was Locked In Trunk 11 Times

SAN DIEGO -- A judge in a downtown courtroom sentenced a couple to probation Wednesday for locking the woman's son in the trunk of their car while they celebrated her birthday in a bar.

Sarah Marie Powell, 27, locked her 7-year-old son in the trunk while she and her boyfriend, Jake Faria, 31, celebrated her birthday Aug. 23 inside Winston's Beach Club in Ocean Beach.

The couple pleaded guilty to two charges of felony abuse. They were sentenced to four years of probation and 500 hours of community service.

Powell's attorney, Mary Ellen Attridge, told NBC 7/39 that the plea bargain was made possible because tests showed the child was medically and psychologically sound. Faria and Powell are now seeing the boy daily and are on track to get custody of him in March.

Great move - let's give them probation cause the child wasn't really hurt.....Give me a freakin break, huh?

Someone needs a serious ass kicking on this - both the mother & boyfriend, followed by the judge.

Psychotic Professor

One of the courses that I'm taking this quarter is ECE 102 Active Circuit Design. Unfortunately, I also took this course last quarter and bombed the final exam - so I'm repeating it.

Anyway....I'm checking out the class website and see that the prof has already posted the first lab assignment.

(NOTE: although I bombed the final exam, I did kick ass in all the labs so I'm gonna see if the prof can accept the work I did last quarter and allow me to avoid having to do the labs again. All it'll take is a form and that will be taken care of tomorrow.)

I clicked on the lab link and looked it over and immediately thought this guy is nuts!!

You can see what I'm talking about here (Adobe Acrobat required to read it).

Only after about three minutes of gawking at it do I realize that it's a spoof lab and that the real one will be posted within the week.

Damn - that's messed up.

By Jeff's Example

I'm gonna follow Jeff's lead and become a philanthropist. The problem is a severe lack of cash flow.

For those that would like to assist me in becoming a greedy, rich conservative jerk hell-bent on spreading common sense around, I've put in a DONATION button over on the left-hand side.

Prediction

Moxie makes a prediction about the relief efforts going down in South Asia:

MoxieYou know -- after we spend hundreds of millions to rebuild the devasted island of Sumatra in the next few years -- the left will continue to bitch and moan that GWB is not doing enough.

And IF in however many years ONE person who lives there, visited there or thought about visiting Sumatra is involved in a terrorist attack on the US, the very same lefties will be the ones pointing fingers at that evil George W. Bush. "He rebuilt that area and funded terrorists!"

Mark my words.

Uh.....Yeah

Here is an example of some of the 'cutting-edge' articles featured in my school's newspaper:

Learn to get ahead with better foreplay
Useful tricks to improve oral and manual sex on men

Guys seem like they’re real easy, don’t they? To get off, I mean. Supposedly, it just takes a few rubs with their own hands, a few more rubs with the partner’s hand — or perhaps a few licks from willing lips — and they’re quite orgasmically satisfied. Well, first of all, although this may be true for most, it is certainly not true for all. Secondly, even if it were true that all men could easily be satisfied within a few minutes, it would be absolutely no excuse for making those experiences less than mediocre. So, today’s question arises: How can the lover make a blow job or a hand job something more than just more complicated masturbation sessions? (I’ll address the vagina in another issue.)

This is the kind of stuff happening at UCSD that just makes me shake my head and pray that my daughter goes to the U.S. Naval Academy....

You Might Be A Liberal...

Something from Brent over at The Ville that made me chuckle man-style:

You Might Be a Liberal If...:

  • You think that protestors outside nuclear power plants are dedicated activists, but protestors outside abortion clinics are dangerous zealots interfering with a legal activity.

  • You believe that more federal regulations will make your life better.

  • You believe that even though the top 20 percent of taxpayers pay 80 percent of income taxes, that the rich are not paying their “fair share.”

  • You think that Rush Limbaugh’s listeners are mindless “dittoheads,” but you have never doubted anything that you heard from Michael Moore.

  • You believe that the network news is a better indicator of what “real” news is than talk radio, Internet news sites, and blogs.

  • You believe that there was never, ever a problem with biased news coverage until Fox News went on the air.

  • You believe that Mikhail Gorbachev deserves more credit for losing the Cold War than Ronald Reagan deserves for winning it.

  • You mentally subtract 100 points from someone’s IQ if the person speaks with a Southern accent.

  • You think that Dan Rather got a raw deal.

  • You think that the phrase “separation of church and state” is in the Constitution.

  • You pride yourself on your global awareness, global sensitivity and global outlook, but can’t name your state legislator or school board representative.

  • You are dedicated to helping the poor, the downtrodden and the less fortunate, but you have never given blood.

  • You believe that a woman should make it on her own, without depending on her husband (except for Hillary Clinton).

  • You believe that professional, working women should never be judged on their appearance (except for Katherine Harris).

  • You believe that rich people should not be allowed to contribute so much money to candidates for office (except for George Soros).

  • You believe that government should make a special effort to hire members of traditionally oppressed groups, such as African-Americans (except for Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice).

  • You feel a deep sense of common cause with oppressed groups, such as Hispanic immigrants (except for Cuban Americans fleeing Castro).

  • You believe that a mother’s wishes for her child, especially a mother’s last, dying wish for her child, should outweigh the wishes of a father who had long before deserted his family (unless the child is named Elian Gonzalez).

  • You have no problem with Hollywood movie starts flying around in private jets to give speeches on the evils of SUVs.

  • You think that raising taxes will reduce the budget deficit.

  • You are more concerned, more often, with the rights of convicted felons than you are with the rights of small business owners.

  • You uphold a woman’s right to choose, unless a woman chooses adoption, chooses to be a stay-at-home mom, chooses to homeschool, or chooses to start a business.

  • You are more concerned with Vice President Cheney’s links to Halliburton than with Saddam Hussein’s links to international terrorism.

  • You have used the phrase, “in Europe, the government pays for health care and vacation,” without irony.

  • You are worried about how the French view Americans.

  • You believe that nativity scenes should be banned from public view, but that anyone objecting to pornography "only has to look the other way".

  • And finally, you are almost certainly a liberal if you refuse to admit that you’re a liberal, and accuse anyone of calling you a liberal of McCarthyism.

First Blech of 2005

Nothing of note to blog about today except:

  • The Winter 2005 quarter started yesterday - getting back into the groove of school and planning study-buddy sessions.
  • More rain for San Diego - we sure could use it, but I hate the fact that IQ points seem to ooze out of people's heads when they're driving in the rain. Lots of fender-benders involving stupid mo-fos.....
  • It is my firm opinion that hemodialysis just plain sucks; more on this later if I feel up to it.

UNhelpful

It's enough to really make you want to puke:

Meanwhile, our military and civilians, working with the super Aussies, continue to keep the C-130 air bridge of supplies flowing and the choppers flying, and keep on saving lives -- and without 24hr catering services from any five-star hotel . . . . The contrast grows more stark every minute.

Stereotyping & Crocodile Tears

Gee.....didn't see this one coming:

Muslims decry '24' depiction

Crocodile TearsThe New York Daily News says a Muslim group is complaining about the first episode of Fox TV’s "24" because it features a Muslim terrorist.

The show hasn’t even aired yet, but a member of the Council on American-Islamic Relations got ahold of a preview trailer and described himself as "dismayed."

At issue is a scene in which a teenager helps his parents plot to kill Americans. "What we will accomplish today will change the world," the father tells the son over breakfast. "We are fortunate that our family has been chosen to do this."

CAIR’s Rabiah Ahmed said the scene "casts a cloud of suspicion over every American-Muslim family out there."

I would have thought that Hollywood writers would be jumping al over the virtual 'goldmine' in using Swedes and Danes as terrorists.

It's funny how CAIR will wave its arms in the air, stamp their feet, and scream bloody murder when Muslims/Arabs are 'stereotyped' but it's nothing but cricket-cricket-cricket when stuff happens to confirm these stereotypes.

Yeah - let's see some more of those crocodile tears.
