Mikey was being weaned off the vent. A gradual thing, giving his body a chance to take over basic functions without stressing his entire system.
Until last night, that is.
Apparently, Mikey'd had enough of the ventilator and ripped out the tubing before the docs could.
He is awake.
Yes. HE IS AWAKE!
And talking. Okay, whispering. But, still...
Mikey is awake, communicating, and just as stubborn as ever.

Right now, no one. Mrs. Mikey works very hard but the reality is that this family has had their income literally cut by more than half. The bills however, have NOT been cut. A fund has been set up (http://www.indepundit.com/archive2/2006/01/contacting_help.html#) to help offset some of the every day living expenses and bills.
Any help anyone can give would be deeply appreciated by all of us who love this family. The situation isn't going to get any easier for a long time to come. Thanks for asking...
And to anyone who has donated, THANK YOU. Mrs. Mikey and Mini Mikey can't express their gratitude adequately because it's so deep.
