While I was preparing for final exams this week, I heard briefly about the San Diego sailor who refused to deploy with his ship.
Now that I have time on my hands (last final was yesterday morning - more about finals later), I read a little more about it.
Bottom line: I give the guy credit for standing up for what he believes but his lack of intelligence on the long-term implications of standing up for his actions have screwed him. This guy will get ZERO respect from other military prisoners - as he should.
Citizen Smash has an open letter to Pablo and it's a good read.
He recommends that Pablo get his shit together and face the music at Captain's Mast. I hate to say this Smash, but this dork won't take the man's way out - he''s already declared himself a complete pussy and he'll stick with it at the urgings of the whiny anti-war protesters here in San Diego.
His future was decided when he showed up at 32nd Street Naval Station and thumbed his nose at the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) - ironically on the 63rd anniversary of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor - as it pulled out for deployement.
His actions dooms him to a life of always being reminded that he shirked his duties.
Enjoy the pathetic remainder of your life Pablo - you flushed it down the crapper and I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for you and your predicament. I hope you enjoy being made to be the prison bitch in Ft. Leavenworth Federal Prison you asshat.
Any sympathy I have for you can be found in the dictionary......between shit & syphilis.
APOLOGIES for my deviation of not using foul language, but this really irritates me to see someone in the United States Navy de-evoloving from a Sailor to a pussy. I am deeply offended that this.....person would bring dishonor upon my Navy.
I'd be more than willing to serve again in my Navy but unlike Pablo - I have a definite medical reason for not being allowed to serve. And even in my condition, I'm still 200% more man than this sorry excuse for a sailor.
Comments on Planning for the Future and it's all BAD
What a disgrace to the uniform and a dishonor to the soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen who have not abandoned their posts, especially to his own shipmates as they go into battle.
Coward.
He will be brought up on charges of UA, missing ship's movement and possibly desertion, but he was afraid of the charge of destruction of government property?
Coward.
He called the newspapers, radio and TV stations to publicly announce his intentions?
Coward.
He's looking for a lawyer to represent him for free?
He's a cheapskate and a coward.

He should have deployed and made an official protest to the chaplin (or whatever they have on a ship) concerning his moral objections to the war. He'd still have gone, and he would have stuck by his shipmates and let his feelings be known.
I mean for christ's sake, he's a sailor, it's not like he's going into Fallujah or anything.
