Atlantis on Its Way to Space StationYeah buddy!!CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) -- After two frustrating weeks of delays, space shuttle Atlantis and its six astronauts blasted off Saturday on a mission to resume construction of the international space station for the first time since the Columbia disaster 3 1/2 years ago.
The shuttle rose from its seaside launch pad through a partly cloudy sky at 11:15 a.m.
"It was worth the wait and we're ready to get to work," said Atlantis commander Brent Jett.
Jett and his team have trained for longer than any crew in the past, and the extra time will probably be an advantage. They face one of the most challenging construction tasks in space history.
Yeah, but they saw ice on the wings/fuselage on takeoff.... Could be something, could be nothing.
