I must admit to something that might be considered pathetic: everytime there's some sort of disaster, be it natural or man-made, in the United States or in another nation, a little thoguht pops into my head: 'I wonder if they'll attempt to blame it on President Bush'.
While watching that incredible story the other night about the miners in that West Virginia mine first being declared alive only to be declared dead three hours later, that little notion of Blame Bush aka Bush Derangement Syndrome reared it's ugly little head.
I thought No, there's nothing to blame on Bush. This was a local tragedy and there's just no way that any sane person could link the two together...
And I was wrong. The suprising thing is that someone did indeed tie the two together. The not-so-surprising fact is that it's The New York Times that pulled this off without using a 'Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon' model to do it.
I think this could be considered the first Launching a Butt-Monkey moment of 2006.
On a lighter note, I'm still sick as a dog. The upside is that I'm not currently in school at the moment (new quarter starts January 9th); the downside is that all this 'vacation time' I'm supposed to be enjoying is getting wasted on being sick.
