Judiciary Panel Approves RobertsIt's great that they did their jobs and got the vote done. Now...if only the whole Senate will allow an UP or DOWN vote.WASHINGTON — The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 13-5 Thursday to confirm John Roberts to be the 17th chief justice of the United States Supreme Court. The full Senate will vote on the nomination on Monday.
Roberts won the support of all 10 Republicans on the committee and three Democrats — Ranking Minority Member Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold, both of Wisconsin.
What really pisses me off is this:
Earlier, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said that while she respected the positions of her colleagues on the panel, she too could not "in good conscience" cast a vote for Roberts. So, being the politically motivated person that I am, I sent this e-mail to the dear Senator from California this afternoon:Feinstein, an abortion rights supporter and only female member of the committee, said she felt Roberts did not adequately answer her questions during 17 hours of questions and answers.
"I knew as little about what Judge Roberts really thought about issues after the hearings as I did before the hearing. This makes it very hard for me," she said.
Feinstein was joined by Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., another Judiciary Committee member, who urged senators to oppose Roberts' confirmation.
Senator Feinstein,(And no I didn't sign it 'Mad Mikey'...)This will be a short message to you.
I just read that you voted NO to confirm Judge John Roberts on his nomination to the Supremem Court of the United States.
I am extremely disappointed in you and for your laughable 'reasons' for voting NO. You - along with Senator Barbara Boxer - make the rest of us Californians look like complete idiots. You were OBVIOUSLY 'playing to the C-SPAN cameras' in preperation for your bid to be re-elected to the Senate by the people of California. How trite.
While I haven't really care much for you winning re-election here in California before, now I will. I will be throwing my support into whomever is nominated to run against you in 2006.
Seriously - I will be helping whoever it is that can defeat you in the election....even if it's a Barney the Purple Dinosaur. HE certainly has better political sense than you do.
DISrespectfully (since you do not rate any in my book any longer),

Seriously - this political HACK needs to be removed from office next fall....and I'm really going to help any way I can.
