You know UCSD is back in session when the speds at the Ché Cafe start whining about being evicted:

In spring 2004, UCSD Student Affairs personnel claimed UCSD's contract with the co-ops and student governments had expired in 1998, despite that they had previously recognized 2-year renewals of this contract in 1998, 2000, and 2002. They attempted to use the threat of termination to force unwanted modifications on the contract. Some of these modifications would have severely impeded the co-ops' ability to operate. In response to this aggression, the co-ops and their legal counsel called for an informal dispute resolution to address any legitimate concerns in a civil and productive manner.
Over the summer, Student Affairs responded to this request in writing with a threat to terminate students' tenancy in co-op spaces unless a new agreement had been reached by October 15. At the same time, they explicitly refused to negotiate with the co-ops in any way, and indicated that although AS and GSA would be allowed to review the language, their approval would not be required. In short, they intend to disregard the agreement previously negotiated among all parties, and rather than negotiate anew, replace it with terms they alone dictate.
