Mexico Retaliates for Border Wall PlanUh-oh - they're going to get Mexicans to 'denounce rights violations' here in the good ole U.S.A.MEXICO CITY - The Mexican government, angered by a U.S. proposal to extend a wall along the border to keep out migrants, has struck back with radio ads urging Mexican workers to denounce rights violations in the United States. Facing a growing tide of anti-immigrant sentiment north of the border, the Mexican government is also hiring an American public relations firm to improve its image.
Mexican President Vicente Fox denounced the U.S. measures, passed by the House of Representatives on Friday, as "shameful" and his foreign secretary, Luis Ernesto Derbez, said Monday the wall was "stupid."
Hmmm....maybe they could also get those same Mexicans to denounce violations of a nation's sovereign borders.
When I initiially saw the headline I was wondering What - they're going to NOT cross the border to get back at American business? No such luck.
I remember the *cough* threats of Mexicans boycotting businesses here in San Diego right around when Prop 187 was being discussed; the 'word-on-the-street' was that if 187 passed that many, many, MANY Mexicans would not cross the border to do Christmas shopping.
Well....Prop 187 passed and the Mexicans still came to but Christmas stuff for their kids. So much for getting a spine of some sort to fight 'racism' & 'inposing a wall of hate'.
Keep whining Mexico - it makes for interesting headlines.

Boo-F-in Hoo! Why does Vicente Fox have any sort of credibility on this or any other issue?
I think putting up a hotwire on the fence would be an approved upgrade! Keep the cattle on their side of the fence!
I saw a "story" on the news tool 60 minutes, that started detailing how much we were paying for all of our efforts to keep the Southern border secure, and how much of a waste of money it was!

All violations of illegal immigrant rights can be reported to INS. Please call 555-5555 with your grievences. Have home phone and address ready. A representative will meet you shortly.

I like Tetzman's idea of a hot wire. "I've got your rights violation swingin' right here...."
|| Posted by The Other Mike S, December 22, 2005 12:02 PM ||The pro-illegal immigration crowd, which obviously includes the Mexican gov't, has a way with spinning the anti-illegal immigration argument into anti-immigration, period. As if it's the same thing. The verbiage of this story (and many stories on this subject) alternately make me want to laugh and cry.
I remember when Vicente Fox was elected, and all the optimism that came with the prospects of a "businessman" running the show down there. Now he's just as lazy as his predecessors in fixing the issues that drive his people to cross the border. It's so much easier to blame America!
