Nothing of interest to blog about this morning.....
The Newsweek flush-down-the-crapper story is being beat to death all over the place - nothing I can add since I kept Newsweek at arms length for the last few years.
Dreading dialysis today....just plain sucks.
More later if I'm inclined, feeling better from dialysis, or the world explodes because of the giant mutant spiders living under UCSD....
There was something up on I think Drudge's site about a portable dialysis machine... It's still p

Hope this all gets resolved asap...
|| Posted by scroff, May 18, 2005 09:22 AM ||Yeah well.....new kidney would help. I guess this is a motivation to get a new kidney: dialysis is supposed to suck.
|| Posted by Mad Mikey, May 18, 2005 09:27 AM ||Are you... bin laden?
|| Posted by Yogimus, May 18, 2005 12:57 PM ||Sorry to hear you're having a bad go with it lateley... YES, it does suck, I know of your pain!
Just to let ya know, I'm scheduled for Surgery in Denver on the First of June! It's a live donor, no thanks to UNOS, 0-point match, and he's blood type A2... I'm taking the chance that I might get a few normal years out of life with this transplant. Wish me luck, and hang in there!
Also, Yogimus, what kinda stupid question was that? It's not funny to those of us stuck dealing with kidney failure!

I'm still working up to the list....still have a few more hurdles to overcome, but I always remember: slow & steady wins the race!

Is this genetic, sickness complication, or self inflicted?

Dunno exactly, but most likely genetic and a mixture of other maledies bothering me.
Kidney disease --> kidney failure --> handicap placard.

On the bin laden bit... isn't there some sort of mobile dialysis machine that is man-portable?
|| Posted by Yogimus, May 18, 2005 05:03 PM ||If there is, *I* am not aware of it. Then again, I haven't received the FULL VWRC benefits package info yet....
Actually, to my knowledge most hemodialysis machines are still the size of a small/medium refrigerator.
Now, there are small machines for doing PD - peritoneal dialysis - but that's a different story as I'm not too keen on having a tube stitched into my gut right now....
|| Posted by Mad Mikey, May 19, 2005 07:51 AM ||There was something up on I think Drudge's site about a portable dialysis machine... It's still pretty new, and it's not a Baxter or Fresenious machine, so who knows if it'll become wide-spread?
|| Posted by Tetzman, May 20, 2005 10:54 AM ||I went the "tube-stitched in my gut" route, and got over the "EW Fator" of it all...
